I've seen guys on here driven to the point of selling or considering selling their cars they get picked on so often. Just ask Khalid Sarwari about it some time.

I just love the way people on here are so quick to take the piss out of someone else's pride and joy (however they may have gone about modding it) yet the same people seem to quickly get bent out of shape when someone else pays Soarers out. This forum is absolutely no different to any other when it comes to some people being totally "One-eyed" about a make of car. The only reason it looks or reads a little more "grown up" is Pen's threat to ban people for SMS speak.

How is it when people do these mods to another car it's "rice" yet when it's done to a Soarer it's "performance enhancements"?

This person has obviously spent time and money on something she enjoys. The fact that it doesn't perform like a TT Soarer or doesn't conform to YOUR idea of a well modded car doesn't mean it's a joke.

After all, there are plenty of cars on the road (including Lancers!) that'd blow the doors off a Soarer. It doesn't mean the drivers of those cars have any more credibility or right to criticise than anyone else.

I'm in agreeance with Ollie's post.

However i think the idea Sam had in her original point still stands, and i dont see it being related to what Ollie is talking about!

The first thing which comes to mind when anyone (i am guilty of thinking it myself) sees a girl driving a modified car (decals, stickers, plastic, performance, noise, whatever) is that its "cute" that she is trying.

To put it in to terms the guys will understand; the basici instinct is that girls play with duplo, boys play with technic lego!

I'm not saying its right or fair, but that just seems to be the basic instinct.

You're right Callum. My post wasn't addressing Samantha's original post specifically. It WAS addressing many of the others though.

As for guys attitudes to women in modified cars, it's WAY deeper than just some girl in a Lancer with stickers and a bodykit. Just read some of the posts in the threads that any of the female members on the forum have taken part in and you'll quickly get the picture that many blokes have other things on their minds than talking cars as soon as the girls/women get involved.

It has very little to do with "riced up" Lancers or other similar cars, and it's not likely to change any time soon.

Sorry David and Ollie. No I haven't been on here for long at all. However, where i live, the few Soarers are clean, tidy, and are relatively quiet.

As for the rest of your post, I am in total agreance if you read through my previous posts.

A persons car, regardless of being male or female, is 1 of 2 things. a means to get from A to B, or their Pride and Joy. Just becuase someone likes the "Fast and Furious" look, who cares. So long as you are happy with what YOU have!

Well, I for one can't believe that this poor girls privacy has been violated by her number plate being plastered over the internet, when the majority of people here grey theirs out when they post pictures of their own cars. I also can't believe that a moderator hasn't already deleted or blackened parts out on her behalf. If it were my privacy being plastered, I'd be suing somebodies arse right about now. *now I'll get off my soapbox*

Im interested to know how having her plate visible on a forum when she is not doing anything incriminating is any more or less of an invasion of privacy than when she is driving down a busy street, or maybe she normally covers her plate up while she's in the car?? Weird logic....

Plates may be obscured in photos where the driver *may* be incriminating themselves in some way, that would be the only *logical* reason.

As far as this stupid mods debate goes, the definition of a "ricer" mod imo is one that pretends to enhance or show performance while not actually doing so.

So in that context, rediculous wings, bodykits and exhaust tips, etc are all fair game for criticism really, doubly so if its on a base-spec car like a Lancer

Haydn, what would you sue for and who would you sue?

Cars have number plates, they have to be very publicly visible by law.

The car has been visibly embellished by it's owner, including the number plate. Those embellishments are being discussed.

As to who the owner is, we have no idea and there is no clue from the pictures or the discussion. The general assumption is that it belongs to a young female, and that assumption itself might be wrong. The car itself could actually belong to anybody, male or female, as an example, a doting dad perhaps.

As far as I know, it would be illegal for anyone with access to a number plate database to look up who the owner is for other than normal work reasons. It would also be illegal to divulge that information to anyone without the legal right to ask for that information. That certainly hasn't happened here.

Any car visible on the road is always a potential discussion point for anyone and everyone, more so if the owner/driver embellishes the car specifically to attract attention. And as far as I know, you can't sue someone just because they don't like your taste in vehicular embellishments. There is also no law restricting discussion of those embellishments either privately or in public - such as on a forum.

Luke Barnes: you crazy! Plenty of riced soarers!!! Also, plenty that get picked on by cops.

An old friend of mine had a fully riced up lancer. Way more over the tip than this with a widebody kit and skinny wheels. He used to cut laps of the street near the time the school kids got out so all the 16 year olds could see him in his fully sic car. He was 22 at the time. Sad…

On another note, I have the anti rice car :P My daily driver sv21 camry has shopping lists on BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR!!! Full of performance enhancing stickers like BFG, FUCHS, Martini racing, HKS etc. etc. As well as this, I have not one but TWO DRIFT MONKEY stickers!!! You would not believe the additional hp I have at the front wheels after these modifications

It is funny to see the wrx guys trying to race me because they think I have something hiding under the bonnet. Just a stock 3s-fe for me :P

Also, on the topic of girls in cars. I was at the Winternats last week and we were down the return road picking up the funny car and the other driver was Debbie Reed. She is about 50 and got out and came over chatting and she was so calm about what had just happened. Had a pedal fest and ran 6.6@290km/hr. That •••• gets my respect ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

I don’t mind if girls do up their cars more to rice style. It seems to be more natural for girls to make things look pretty than go fast although some like both. Wish my fiancé would turbo the Focus she has :P

Sorry, clarification: The girl in the picture is in fact the (and I quote) "Stupid Spoiled Whore" brand name owner devised in the cartoon entitled "South Park". At times, this fanatical cartoon is offensive, so perhaps you may have not watched it as it is quite confronting to both conservatives and homosexuals, just to name a completely random pair.
