That Solara looks like someone left it in the sun and front and rear melted a bit Just like AU Ford compared to one before it, or Ford Taurus. People just don't have taste... very sad...

Letter from Kate
Hey Peter,
When my laptop got hit by spyware it removed my trial version of nero, so I cant resize my pics any more, and I cannot seem to get another version downloaded, (working on that). Anyway, when you get the chance, I would much appreciate it if you could resize them and post on the soarer forum for me.
I am attaching some pics I have taken both local, and new york. One is a cool pic of some bears playing around, which made my one hour drive to the zoo most worthwhile.
The one of ground zero was taken from my hotel window.
I threw one of me by a place about 30 mins down the road, which will be a popular haunt for me in this hot weather.
The only nutters I was able to take a pic of in New York are Elvis and his ....well I think she was his wife, she just kinda sat and jiggled there waving her arms around trying to get people to dance with them. I was amused, and the dude sang pretty good too!
I have so many more that I could have sent, like the weird looking sewerage plant with a park and eatery on its roof....but my fave pic is the one of the boob sculptures, I had to get a shot of those, they are in a walkway that follows the Manhattan harbour. They just popped out of nowhere! That's what I liked so much about NY, that cool stuff like that just comes out of nowhere.

I asked for more pics! ----------------------- Hi Peter, many thanks for getting the pics posted, they look great! be careful what you ask for, as I have just returned from the Aiken Horsepower meet and have taken many pics for everyone's viewing pleasure...I tried to only send my absolute faves, but even so, there are so many..I will leave it to your discretion as to what you post. Aiken is about 25 miles up the road from Augusta and is a real pretty place, very much horse country and has the closest race track (which doesn't see much racing). Everyone was very friendly, as you would expect from those of us who feel passionately about our cars (or Vee-hickles, as I hear often). My absolute fave though, is the 1969 SS Chevelle, which is for sale with an asking price of usd45 grand. Immaculate inside and out and a manual which was very cool to see, as autos seem to be the most popular. Ahhhhhh, she made my heart sing.......! Anyway enough rambling from me....thanks again for helping me out! hoo roo, Kate. ----------- Kate, they are all good, so I am posting the lot! Pen.

My cousin in law up near Columbia has a Chevelle just like that one, but yellow with dark green stripes. Hell of a motor in it. Probably sell it for under half that price too - prices that people think they can get have gone nuts. You gotta have an auto in those, it's how they run em. High stall in that thing slingshots it up the road. Sitting on the line you stand on the brake (and I mean stand on it), hold it at about 2500, and one front corner stands up in the air. That car is bad behaviour.

oh blast...won't be getting the chevelle if that's the case, have a cheque all ready too.... At this stage I get back to oz mid August..have to get some more pics in before then...yeah, having a great time..cheers!

If you want to import a car out of there I can hook you right up with the agents. Just did my Chevy and the old man's Rustang through Savannah. '68 and earlier you don't even need to get an engineer's certificate. '69-'76 you need the cert. '76-'89 you have to have the steering swapped too.

Ohhh , so tempting Miles..sadly I have been cut off at the pass, Stu is not fussed, says it looks just like any other old ford..oh well. Speaking of Stu, he is due here, with a girlfriend of ours, in about an hour. They are staying for one month, I am SO excited...might be busy for awhile me thinks!

Gah. Not the F word! Blasphemy! People who don't like old cars are just wrong.
The Bel Air should be here in a couple weeks, and I'm looking at buying a '57 Thunderbird with the old man to fix up. Yeah, it's a ford but they're cool. Like he said when I was depressed about being single again: "can't beat an old car".

Hi Peter, I have some more pics for you to resize, if ya don't mind. I will send a few to you over a few emails, as each file has its own story to tell.
Stu and I went to Six Flags Over Georgia (right near Atlanta, a couple of hours up the road. It is roller coaster heaven, and what a blast it was.
We bought a 'Flash Pass', which allowed us to go straight to the top of the line - cost an extra US$75.00, but was money well spent, as we went at a real busy time. Considering that some people had been in line for over 2 hours and were only half way to getting on the ride, it was a godsend, as we got to ride all the major coasters.
The daddy of them all is Goliath, which is supposedly the largest one in the world - and I believe it!
I have NEVER EVER been so terrified on a ride in my entire life, worse than the ride, was that my arse kept lifting out of the seat and I was convinced I was going to be thrown right out of the bloody thing! I left my lungs behind after the first drop, and finally stopped screaming, but my mouth just remained open from sheer terror.
Kinda like Fatty Vaughtin from the NRL Footy Show when he went on the Vomitron (but I didn't spew!).
The pics don't do it any justice, there was a 170 ft drop there somewhere, at the top I could see all of Atlanta.
I dragged poor Stu on a ride similar to Tower of Terror, this one is taller than the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Arc de Triumph.
It is circular and you sit in individual seats with feet dangling. It rotates to the top and then it just stops for what seems like for ever then drops down faster than a speeding bullet. I have never seen Stu look more scared as on that one, he has a sheer height phobia and I dragged him on it. He enjoyed it afterwards though - when he got off, he wanted to do it again but it had closed when we went back. Superman is a unique ride, as the seat rows lean forward so it feels like you are really superman, we were in the front row and it was more fun than scary.
Best ride though was Batman. Not sure if it is the same one that is on the Gold Coast, but it was sure pulling some Gs.
Stay tuned for the funny tale about our motel stay....thanks heaps, cheers, Kate.

We stayed at a motel located one mile from Six Flags, right in the industrial area of Atlanta - well sort of. We knew it was a dodgy area as right across the road were strip joints and the like, but we stayed anyway. Paid US$60.00 for the night, clean rooms, but no pool.
When we left for Six Flags we noticed the place next door was US$25.00 AND had a pool - thought we had ripped ourselves off.
Huge thunderstorms went on all night.
Next day when we left, I got Stu to take a pic of Fannies to show y'all.
The motel is offset from the road quite a ways and there is a gravelled area near the road, so I stopped there to get the shot. Next thing a cop car pulls up, lights flashing and a burly cop gets out and asks what are we doing there. When I explain, he says that this is the most dangerous part of Atlanta as drugs and guns are bought and sold here. There has been 14 murders in the past year and he was surprised the mustang was still there (storm saved us big time).
We had stayed in the better of the two motels though, as he had shot a guy dead there last month. That's where the good old local knowledge comes in handy! Bloody stupid tourists!! hahaha.
So that is the funny story behind this pic. Stu and Kate's big adventure!
Stay tuned for our deep sea fishing adventure, thanks for doing this.

Hi Peter, some fishy tales for y'all.
Stu and I went deep sea fishing with a couple of my work mates. Left Augusta at 2am to get to Carrabash for a 7am departure. Took three hours to get to the fishing spot, so I slept the whole way. Fishing was awesome, crew work for tips so they are there right behind you to help out.
I caught my biggest fish ever, and got about 5 all up. There were some big fish caught by other dudes.
Stu is holding all the fish caught between the four of us, quite a few had to be thrown back due to being undersize.
We got five hours of fishing in, then 3 hours to get back. We were all buggared at the end of it and slept like a log.
The other pic is of our group, I work with the girl (Andrea) and guy (Shayne) sitting beside me and the guy on the end is mates with Shayne.
As we were moving on to Myrtle Beach (just up the road) we didn't have to drive back to Augusta (thank goodness).

Hi Peter, now for Myrtle Beach, which is the Georgia version of Surfers Paradise.
Shedloads of people there as it was school holidays and Independence Day long weekend. Good beaches with space at a premium. Drank in an Irish bar right on the beach front, funny to see people getting beer in a foam takeaway cup to take on the beach. Last I knew, we cant do that on our beaches, so it looked weird.
Best of all was the Tanger Outlet Mall, over 200 stores in the one place. My kinda place! I wanted to go to one shop only, the GUESS shop. Stu agreed to go on one proviso, that I don't muck about and not want to go in every store as he didn't want to spend hours shopping.
I agreed and kept my end of the bargain. I was in and out within 10 mins and said "Right I am ready to go!"
Famous last words, but it wasn't me that kept us there for hours and hours - it was STU!
Yes! Stu found loads of golf gear at insanely low prices, Greg Norman and IZOD labels for the main part. He was like a kid in a candy store - although he will deny it! We made 2 separate trips back to the car so we could continue shopping. I loved it!!!
Myrtle Beach is also home to putt putt golf, there are squillions of them! It is also a golfers paradise as there are simply hundreds (well lots and lots) of beautiful golf courses. Stu wants to go back purely for golf. We only stayed a couple of nights, there was so much we didn't get to see and drove past heaps of them on the way out - like the NASCAR cafe! Oh well, shopping took up sooo much time, hahahaha.
The one place I wanted to get a pic of but couldn't was a little place on the main highway called Foster's Bar and Cafe, all complete with a neon outline of Australia on the door.
The 2 pics I have attached are all drive by shots that I took while Stu was driving. The Gay Dolphin just cracked us up and I don't know who voted Crazy Horse number one club in the world!
We went to eat at a Greg Norman restaurant, but weren't going to pay US$30.00 for a steak, even if it is supposed to be real aussie beef.
The next installment in our road trip will be along real soon - going to Charleston.

Hi Peter,
Ok, This is the last installment of the great adventure.
Charleston, only spent the arvo there, did a horse and carriage tour of the historical houses blah blah blah, which reminded us a lot of Sydney with skinny width houses, but not quite terrace houses. Anyway, I wont bore you with those pics, BUT, the bridge coming into Charleston gave Stu and I vertigo something bad. I felt sick going up it, it was Goliath revisited! I was so relieved to get to the other side!
That concludes the rock show for right now - oh and I am not coming back until around 5 September, my tour has been extended, but enough rambling, Thanks heaps for resizing these pics Peter!
