I think it has something to do with once cars are 25 year old the import restrictions change, apparently the Nisan Skyline have been in demand as well.

It's not for the novelty of having a car in RHD that you could already buy in LHD. It's simply because he has a TT and of course the 1jz turbo wasn't available in America. You have the sc400 (1uz) or the sc300 (2jz n/a). So options are to engine swap or just import a factory example. I know some places are very strict with engineering engine swaps so literally importing RHD is the only option.
have a look at the colours on this website https://soarerrestorer.wixsite.com/soarerrestorers/colourguide almost looks like the door card in the photo has areas of spruce colour coming through the grey. Has the door card in the photo been recoloured at all?

@goetz thank you for the chart. Its definitely spruce. I am on Facebook and part of that group. It's just been hard to find someone that's willing to ship.
