I haven't used them personally, but I also haven't heard anyone say a bad thing about them. They should be comparable to new bushes, only I think new OEM bushes are only available as part of the complete lower arm assembly from Toyota.
Most Soarers require the lower bushes to be replaced as most are getting to that age.

Everyone who has used VFT bushes (including me) swears by them
The wear on the outer edges of your front tyres may be normal, depending on how hard you drive and what pressures you are running. Find a highly recommended place to get the alignment done and if it is OK and your front pressures are high then all you can do is rotate them to maximise total wear.

if your balljoints are shagged, new lca's are the only choice, because the ball isn't serviceable on the soarers. expect to pay big bux from toyota (1300ish from memory) - i got a pair from a wrecker delivered to my door for $300 and the balljoints on them are in good nick but its a bit luck of the draw-ish.
your choice of bushes depends on what you expect from your car. i'm fitting superpro upper and lower control arm bushes and vft steering rack bushes. the urethane jobs -shouldn't- squeak if they're chock full of the white grease...

Per most of the other advise, once you go to Vlamos Bush's you'll never go back. They also will give you a discount of you get the entire set. i.e Upper & Lower front & rear. Whilst your at it get the Steering rack mounts from them as well.
Seriously, worth the investment, even if the other bush's aren't totally shagged yet. You won't be dissapointed! You will handle better than you have to date inc the day you bought the car.
