Howdy gang.

A mate of mine is keen to pickup a UZZ31.
Other than getting around in a fantastic car, it will also be used for towing around his track car.

Are there any issues or tips regarding the air struts, tow packs, or just towing with soarers in general?

Brad Towing with airbag suspension is not good.
As the pump keeps on working to adjust the height!
Normal coils or active are ok!

actually tells you to turn the air bags OFF when towing.

I really have got to wonder why on earth you would turn the suspension off for towing!
I think it may have something to do with the 'three channel only' design of the airbag system. Why the hell they didn't make it four like an Active I don't know; all the hardware is exactly the same. it may also be because the front and rear ends can't be controlled entirely separately; again an extra solenoid or two would do it.


That pic of Jeff's Active towing another Soarer is an absolute classic !!!

So no real issue if you just switch the air-sus off for towing.

For SMALL towing loads I would adjust the system max air pressure up a bit and leave the suspension on.
I suspect this is why they say to turn it off. A big load on the rear will put the airbag pressure right up and possibly blow an airbag.

On that note what is the TT like for towing?... mine came fitted with a towbar. About to move house, is it a good idea?

I just drove from ballarat to melbourne towing three bikes and a 40kg generator with a UZZ31. Pulling power was fantastic.
