While I was getting some new Endless pads fitted, the mechanic noticed that a previous owner had cut the rear springs and tack welded them back onto the bottom strut plate to lower the vehicle. Bad news was that one weld broken and the spring was trying to wind itself down over the bottom plate : ( !!
I now have HR Teins in the front (needing a service) and Tems in the back with chopped dodgy springs... (It still looks good tho ???) Just kidding..
Choices are:
1) Get a new set of lower springs for the rear (eg Kings)
2) Get a full set of springs, plus a new set of TEMS for the front, or
3) Replace the whole lot and start fresh with a full new set of coil overs. (Preference at this stage is HSD or Tein SS)
From all the threads I have read it seems that there is a mixed bag of satisfaction with coil overs. In speaking to Tein distributors (Fulcrum QLD) I was advised that the new Super Streets' are specifically designed / valved for "Aussie roads" and are softer then the Jap version. I was assured that they and are much better that the older HR's etc.. (Sales BS ?)
I would really appreciate any further feedback on user experience with HSD and Tein coil overs.
Based on some more first hand user feedback, I would be happy to then purchase a set, test/document the results and hopefully contribute to closing out some open ended threads?
