Hi guys,
Well last nite was an interesting one for me, i had just gotten home from quite a massive weekend down at the gold coast (Summa Field Dayze) and i have broken sumfin in my Soarer.
When leaving the coast i pulled out of from a set of lights and it felt as tho i had driving over a piece of wood on the road as i heard a small clunk and felt a jolt. Kept rolling.
Anyways, got home to brissy a good 50mins later. Pulled off from a set of lights turning left (not driving hard) and 'BANG' .. loud noise and my car jolted.
I pulled over pretty much straight away for a look see but couldnt see anything obvious , so i carried on again.
I think ive done my diff or a driveshaft as my car will travel nicely enough going straight but when i turn corners with my foot on the accelerator, it seems to jump and clunk around the bend.
Does this sound like a diff drama ?? Im thinking maybe lost a couple of teeth and the noise is when the loose bits are being picked up and run through the remaining cogs ??
Spose its just as well i bought a Torsen LSD only 2 weeks ago.
any ideas ?
*sorry for rambling post, its kinda hard to explain.

I know the feeling, sounds like same issues I had when I did my diff. Unlucky, but lucky for you that you have a new LSD instead of having to replace it with another Open Wheeler like I had to =(

Sounds like you have removed some teeth from the Crown Or Pinion Gears....
Problem with this is, You may have the Centre, but you WILL need a new Crown and Pinion wheel to use in your housing. Im hoping you have just destroyed the spider gears as this means you can just get your Torsen Centre installed with your current gearset.
More likely you have broken the Crown or Pinion teeth, but heres hoping to some Spiders that have gone Splodey.
I Busted Mine at the Drags in November. Had a Massive Bang come from the diff when coming to a halt. The numerous Bangs and clunks, SPecially when turning corners. I needed a whole new diff, and luckily Neil came through for me. But NOW.. Heaps have LSD's for sale.

Crown wheel is the Big one which Bolts onto your Centre. The Pinion gear is the smaller one which bolts into the Housing and mate with the Crown wheel.

Hehe, sounds like its locked! My old ute with the Mig Diff used to do that if you went around a corner too slow (read: without breaking traction. Navaras have huge axles, never broke em.

Dont feel bad, my friend bought a JZA80 6 speed TT. Got it from the transport company, drove home gently. Didnt check anything, went fanging for about 1 hour only to hear that lovely sound of a big end bearing destroying itself.

Does anybody know if the whole assembaly from other Toyotas can just bolt straight in ??
i.e drop my diff then simply slap in an LSD item from an AUTO supra or Aristo etc ???
Im just tryin to figure out whethers its worth me gettin my thing rebuilt with the new diff centre etc.
It all depends on whether my Crown and pinion are stuffed... if so, im goin to start hunting for a WHOLE assembaly .
*** NOTE - this job is more of a pain in the ass than i thought it was goin to be.
I also need to get a new WEBO Flange or whatever.. the thing with the 3 bolts that connects to my tailshaft. Mine has fractures. Wonder how much that is goin to cost ?
starting to get over the Soarer VERY quickly

hahaha my first ' DO A SEARCH ' comment... it was only a matter of time i spose ... 990 posts later
Thanks Neil , i guess its better to come from you than another.
Reason so many of us ask is because we all want to hear that 'Its ALL going to be OK *insert name here* ' and i prefer to hear it from someone i know / know of as opposed to 'SIC_GTS69r' from other less reputable forums such as boostcrusing and the like.
anyways, thanks again people.
In that case i will not replace my WEBO and i will keep searching for a complete diff from a supra or aristo that i can simply bolt up.
Then , if im lucky, ill sell off my diff centre and re-coup some costs.

Right im gettin somewhere with this but only very slowly.
** Next question - Does the V8 diff look the same as the TT diff ?
Its just i may have found a LSD and the guy says its from a TT but im not sure about him (only because i have not dealt with him before) and i want to make sure im buying a TT diff and not a V8 diff.
What are the differences ? I understand the ratios are different but what does that actually mean .
*please forgive my ignorance , but im slowly learning about these diff thingos !
Also thankyou Neil for your advice and help (via email) of late.
