Hey guys,

Ive been on the search for ages now, and cant seem to find any workshop that has solid mounted castor rods and / or tie rods.

Just wondering if anyone here knows where to get them from...preferably without importing from japan.

Cheers!

Soarer's don't have caster rods, and the tie rods are mounted with a ball joint. You won't get any more solid than that.

Longer Tie Rods won't give you any more lock, as steering lock is a function of the steering rack.

Unless you can find a rack out of something else with more lock that fits into a soarer, you're pretty well fubared.

Or get an active like Dan, they have an extra 10 degrees of steering lock (on the back wheels). 9.8m instead of 10.8m turning circle.

Thanks for all your help guys, FINALLY managed to find a workshop that knows what theyre talking about. The rose-jointed tie rods (with a spacer for more steering lock) arrive next week! AND i managed not to have any toe-out because the tierods fit straight into the stock steering rack. If you guys are interested in any more information, hit us with a message.

Cheers for all the help

Good to hear you had success Tora. I know what you mean about finding it hard to get good suspension components for your Soarer, especially the stuff like tie rods and arms. Are you getting the Tein tie rods? i hear they make them for the JZZ30 and include spacers as well as being stronger and rosejointed.

If you do, make sure to grease up the joints before putting them in.

Cheers.

Aftermarket tie rods that add lock have a spacer built in on the end that allows it travel into the rack further. This gives you more steering lock. The adjustments on the actual tie rods are for toe settings (if your wheels are in or out a few degrees. Like if your feet are facing outwards or inwards a bit).
Tein tie rods and many other tie rod brands come with spacers for the thread on the tie rods to screw into the steering rack. If you do this to aftermarket tie rods, you can achieve much greater lock.

Here is a pic of a tie rod spacer around the thread of the tie rod before being screwed into the steering rack:

Man where were you when i needed you! haha i knew there was a way of getting more lock without changing my whole steering rack. Thanks for the detailed info nathan, i wasnt totally sure where i was supposed to put the spacer ring. Funny how a new member of the forums can tell me more than a moderator! haha just kidding

anyway thanks all for your contribution, should be getting more angle in my drifts from now on!

Ooh neil the upper control arms sound good. How much extra camber can you get and is it for front, rear or both??

Looks as though they have a built in spacer on those tie rods, good stuff. You can actually also use a spacer on the stock tie rods too.
