7" Rim will be OK with a 255/50/16 Daniel - Enjoy (be aware that this is the Absolute MINIMUM Rim Width for a 255)

make sure your first burnout is nice and long, with plenty of km/h on the speedo.once you see smoke, keep into it for another 10 seconds, even though that track marshall is waving you forward.you want to heat the entire tyre on your first one, i am told. after that, burn out as normal.have you got ABS big guy?

Daniel, would you mind putting up a photo of the 255/50-16 tyres on the car? I would like to see how much bulge you get and know how it drives. My tyres will need replacement soon. My choices appear to be 225 (as now) or 245 (I do not want 255) because 235 do not seem to be sold by anyone in 50 profile 16 inch.

I still do not want to change wheels. I like the Griffin on the stock one.

At the moment im using 265.35.18's on the rear so the 255's should fit ok.

Thanks Blake! I was gonna ask for some advice on the procedures of them!

Also, what kind of Psi do you run them at the track on? STart at 20psi and work your way down?

I have run the earlier(crossply) ET streets and hoosier radials, and think that starting at 20 psi is a good idea, then lowering from there.what is the weather forecast for 'BIG WEDNESDAY'?.and i suggest to forget about doing a good reaction time on your first run, concentrate on doing the best possible launch to test out those tyres.

You'll need one if you're going to stall hard on a stock converter. I reckon 4000rpm is a good mark to target for first run on the stall with MT drag radials. I had 3300rpm on the clock on azensis to get a 1.898.

It takes me about 2-3 seconds to get to 4000rpm on my 3200 stall convertor, I reckon you'll probably be a touch faster to get there with the response of standard turbos.

Daniel, do you spray water on your FMIC when you're stationary? Might be a good idea if you're stalling it hard, i found it helped with MPH on morgs car?

Or even popping the bonnet on the way back to the pits helped no doubt

Would be great to break that long standing stocko turbo record :-)

cihan, can't spray water while staging at the drags, because it kills traction for everyone else and is therefore dangerous.NOT ALLOWED.

Even then might be a problem, if they see any water dripping they will pull you out.

I've never had any issues at calder, they wet the burnout area anyway. Whats the difference if a few drops from a water spray magically makes it way onto the staging area?

Doubtful when you're waiting in line for 30 minutes.

Water spray in MIst form from a trigger pack is always good! I never used it at the last meet, but did throughout summer!

Yeah Ben, i will go as high as i can get it! Im installing a tranny cooler in the stock SMIC section over easter also!

I reckon because of the response of the standard turbos, i will probably need lees RPM than ben to get a good launch!

A Massivley modded CRessida ( Dumps with screamer pipes + No cats , Microtech ECU Aftermarket bosch coils, Fully manualised Auto, STage 2 shift kit, 3000rpm convertor, with stock turbos running 19psi )a few weeks ago, Told me the 3000rpm convertor was Too much! He was launching alot slower than a stock convertor! Too much RPM he said. out of the peak torque band.

He did say that the 2800 convertor gave him about 3200-3300rpm launches and Thats what he was going back to. He ran 12.49 @ 107mph with the 2800stally and a best of 12.8 @ 108.8mph! His highest mph but lowest ET!

SO yeah, i can only try! Basically my street tyres are limiting my launches! Now ive taken care of that we shall see:-)

Well, apart from my tune a little bit out and slightly down on pwoer and mph..

The ET STREETS ARE THE BOMB!!!!!

Seriously dont bother racing unless you have a set of these puppies!!!!

60 footer tells it all!

Upload

I could launch at around 3000-3200 and see up to 6psi of boost! ( might have been more, cant see boost readout and watch tree).

More to come. I definately think 1.7's is not out of the question. NOt bad from a 1750kg race ready car with stock stally:-)

They rock. Next time I'm going to try a full boost launch at as high rpm as I can load up in the time I'm staging.

I expect I could probably pull a high 1.5 60'.

If you see me asking for driveshafts in the wanted section you'll know what happened.

they are cheaper than the road tyres i plan to buy, seem like a good thing.

Dan, how did you find the 255's went on only 7" rims?
