How can I tell - from visual inspection - if I have LSD? My Soarer specs are below.

Or how can I tell from standard specs [eeks there are so many options on Soarers who could say what 'standard' is anyway??]

I'm sure there are other ways of working it out based on spinning wheels with ECT off etc so interested in those ideas as well.

Check the trans/axle code on the build plate under the bonnet....

A02A means open diff.
A02B means LSD.

Found using the magical power of the search engine.

Rip a burnout, that will tell you :p

1 tire mark for an open, 2 for an LSD (although I managed 2 with a line-locker skid in my open wheeler, quite impressed).

Most people can tell by the way the car handles if they have driven both types, and damn I miss my LSD.

Yeah that's a funny subject actually

For a long time after buying my car, I was confused on whether it was LSD or not, then somehow, we (thats me and a couple of mates who know jack all about cars) came to the conclusion that it was on open diff.

However, the other night I was waiting at the red lights sitting uphill, next to a glass facade builiding,so i thought Ill spin a little, and looking to my left (to the wheel that's not meant to be spinning)...I see it spinning

Under massive excitement, I get out of the car after crossing the lights to see the marks, and surely enough 2 tyres...and yes they were mine not somebody elses :-)

Since then both tyres have been spinning when ever they feel like it, mostly spinning, and other times when she's moody, she decides to limp :-)

I'm all sorted thanks - Darryn Dewar's answer works... and sadly for me mine is A02A - Open diff, even it it feels like it.

Was the closest thing I've felt since my 1995 XR6 manual LSD.

Unless somewhere along the line the original diff has been changed for an LSD!

My last car was also a 96 manual XR6 with the factory 3.45 LSD, damn fun cars to drive

Most V8s came as open diff, Earl, but they do get changed by owners. Depending on where you bought it, you would expect to be told if it had.
