Peter, any update on the commercial side of the rebuild?

I thought that the Lexus RX470 4WD has a similar setup as the UZZ32?

Peter Taplin has had 2 of my rear accumulators and my money for 8 weeks now and he told me he sent them back to me 5 weeks ago. After not getting any replys to my email for weeks I decided to call him a few days ago and now he says they have been lost and he is going to make me a new pair?

It's active #191. So how long will it be before I get mine back Steve?

@John Wan
I don't know, you would have to ask Peter Taplin. Either way it wouldn't matter because you can't buy them anymore so loosing them is not an option. No rear shocks = no car.

The Accumulators in question were shipped on the 2nd of July. Resealed and charged.
Peter Burden has had replies to all his emails.
He called me whilst I was on holiday in NZ for 2 weeks and he was advised that, as I cannot locate the units that were sent I would build him another set. But until I returned to Melbourne I would be unable to assist him any further.
I have since used 2 of my changeover rears to build him a new set of rear acc's.
This means the only loser in this situation is me.
I have lost 2 rear Acc's, I have lost the time it took to do the job twice.I have lost the second set of rebuild components.
Peter was also told that the rebuild procedure has changed as we have discovered a basic fault in the construction of the original units that negates the possibility of resealing them with any degree of success, the new procedure involves replacing the barrel cutting of the tops and bottoms replacing numerous components, the barrel is honed to an exact size to suit the front and rear accumulators. These barrels are expensive.
The cost now to do these units is $450.00 per unit a total of $1800.00 for 4, I have been paid $300.00 for the reseal, this will not even cover the parts involved.
This is not something I do for a living it is done to HELP people in my spare time... "SPARE TIME" if it takes time to recover from a catastrophe like losing a set of rear acc's, I am sorry but it takes TIME>>
So far this project has cost me personally about $9000.00 to replace units that did not work, to purchase parts and tooling to get the job done to design and then throw away parts that were made.. this is without the time that has been involved.
I do not see anyone offering financial support or time to help with the process, or Peter offering to cough up for my losses.
As for your comment Peter when will I get mine back, the answer is never they have been lost..

What you will get back is MY Accumulators rebuilt and recharged.

Perhaps it would be easier if I just stopped doing them and looked after myself and my cars and let everyone else do the same.

PS I still have not done the 2 sets I need for my car... wonder why everyone else comes first??

Well Pete, its a difficult but painful lesson.

1/ It's always advanced exchange, ie they send theirs 1st. If it takes 8 weeks... so be it!

2/ 50% Money up front.

3/ Balance on proof of posting.

4/ Insure and register everything.

Hang on guys.

This guy is in Ireland. If Peter sent them via sea mail they will take AT LEAST 10 weeks, minimum.

Personal experience here.

Plus, Irish customs will hold them for 2 weeks to make sure they are not bombs.

So, if sent by sea I reckon everyone is jumping the gun.

If sent by air, well, I bet Irish Customs has them. Have you actually asked them?

I have sent 100's of items overseas and only had one package go misiing... to South Korea.

@ J Harper, What's wrong with my post? It's the truth isn't it. Those are his emails as you can see. I don't need to make up BS so why would I?

You can't track them without a tracking number and Irish customs would not hold them either. Customs is not very strict over here because there is no wars of terror or smuggling of rare animals in Ireland and the goverement reading all your mail and all that WOT junk.

We are not talking about a letter here that fell down the back of seat either, it's a 10kg box. It's not going get lost in the mail is it? Even if it did it would be returned to the sender.

This is exactly what happened when I sent shocks to a POM in the UK who works fot JEM a while ago. He claimed he never got them even though I had proof of delivery from the courier.

Anyway, I don't mind waiting but when the truth starts being streched about emails that were never sent etc, etc, than that's another story.

Peace

There is nothing to dispute, it is his fault.
However Peter T took on this project to help another member. We just do not want any assumptions that he had something to do with these parts going missing.

It is clear that as a result of this, he will follow Neil's advice and stay clear of similar work in the future, others will miss out, sad but inevitable.

I hope all part are located and we can have a happy ending.

Me too. If by chance 2 sets show up than I will return the extra set to him free of charge, no problem but Peter told me himself on the phone that they there were never sent. He said he gave them to his dispatch department and they lost them? So, they never left OZ and they are not held up in customs. They are still in OZ.

I can understand delays and all the rest of it, it happens, but it's a good idea to let your customers know I think, so as to avoid any confusion.

Simple solution

I will send you 2 unrepaired acc's
I will refund your money
This will finalise the transaction for me..

I wish you luck getting someone else to repair them for you.
Please advise your bank details for the refund I will pay the freight from this end.
It is sad you have so little trust in people.

Everyone is overreacting! No one has been ripped off, yet.

It's just hurt ego's, and very understandable and quite natural.

Take a deep breath and look out the window guys.

Peter T did you send them by sea or air?

If sent, exactly what date?

Or, were they lost before they left?

If they have left...Peter B, have you checked your customs people? Despite what you think... I KNOW that customs in Ireland and the UK is slow FROM EXPERIENCE in shipping stuff from Australia, something you have no experience of Peter B.

I also KNOW it takes 10 weeks by sea, if they were shipped by sea.

Further, Peter B, it will come as a shock to you, but unless something is sent by courier it has no tracking number from Australia, it's just normal post, nothing to track.

Nobody should do anything till these answers come in.
