Hi, I have aftermarket adjustable suspension on my newly bought 92 Soarer, and am wondering if someone can help me with how to harden it up a bit?

oh yeah, its Tien coilover apparently. Adjust something (dampening?) from under the bonnet and boot, and adjust something else (height?) from under the wheel arches. Does this sound right?
Cheers.

Yes it does sound right. Do you know what model they are, as it would help.

the only 3 ways to harden it up are:
Adjust the preload on the spring, but can only be done on base height models, not just spring platform height models
Get them revalved by fulcrum, might be 300 per shock inc freight
Or put heavier rate springs in it, we sell all brands of spring inc tein, they are $110 each roughly

Tein HR.
height and dampening adjustment. Great for race days and im confused how and why you would want it any harder ?

Tein flex is the newer and better one.

I want it a bit lower because it looks better and harder because it will handle well when thrashing!

Sorry to revive an old post, but this thread just seemed to be relevant to my question without starting a new one. I've been wanting to lower my car for a while now and realised when I got my rims changed that I had Tein HR coilovers installed. From what I could find on the net, these are not height adjustable, so to lower the car I would need to just change the springs? I don't know much about suspension, so if anyone could provide me with info on these coilovers I have and what would be the best way to go about lowering the car. I'm not interested in making them harder, they seem stiff enough. Cheers.

Fairly sure Tein HR's are height adjustable but NOT damper adjustable.

I have been meaning to track down a set of c-spanners for a while so i can adjust the height of mine too.

I've read the same about the HR's from a good source so I believe they should be height adjustable. Any ideas where to get a c-spanner from? or would any good suspension shop be able to adjust these?

Any decent shop will be able do it as the Tein c-spanners are basically universal across their whole range of coilovers.

They can be bought here for about $75 or $55 shipped from the US.

Some guys reckon you can just use C-Spanners available from any motorbike shop but others reckon these don’t work as well as genuine Tein spanners.

So plenty of options out there.

Cheers Kyle, do you know how low you can adjust Tein coilovers to sit? If you look at my profile pic, thats how its sitting at the moment and I would like it lowered about 1 or 2 more inches. Would adjusting the coilovers get to my desired height or would I maybe be better off with changing the springs?

You can drop it down a little more than that Mark - have a look at my TT in my profile - that can even go down a little further - that has Teins under it.

Kyle - you only need the one C Spanner to drop the Teins - you're welcom to borrow mine if I can find it!

Thanks Matt, let me know if you come across the spanner sometime im in no rush to adjust it at the moment.

Is it still fairly easy to adjust with just the one spanner?

I'd suggest using two so you can have proper leverage to loosen the spring perches.

er... you need 2 to tighten them up or loosen them
genuine tein ones are $65 RRP in stock in AUS
or noltec ones are $20 RRP instock in AUS

we sell both. People should not post unless they know what they are talking about too
