What' sup People,
Ok, I have 235/40/18 on my rear. When I start to accelerate and the car dips or I hit a bump my left rear tire rubs. If people are in the car it rubs more but only on that side. I am wondering if I do need to replace the shock. Also has anybody ever used Tokico HP Series shocks. Check em out! Let me know if it's a good buy please.

Tokico HP's are good providing your suspension isn't super stiff, or super low, or you punish it super hard.

HP's are probably one of the best bang-for-buck shocks around, but will not suit the serious driver.

Also check eBay USA, as you can generally get them cheaper on there.

And finally, if you are changing to a sports shock, you need to change to a sports spring as well, ensuring the system works will with each other.

What would be good if you want a firmer ride then? At my ride height the car is bottoming out so I'm looking at either getting a new set of springs (same ride height but stiffer) with new shocks or getting coilovers.

The only ones that come to mind are Koni Yellows but they're only for Supra fitments.

It all comes down to your budget.

If you've got the coin for a full set of adjustable height coilovers with adjustable shocks, then do it.

Patrick, the question is - rubs on what? The outer rim or the wheel arch liner? What offset rims are you running? Are both rims the same offset? If they are 38 - 50 then all should be good and I'd say your shockie has died or is dying. Is it leaking oil? is the back of your car level when stationary? When you bounce each rear corner do they feel the same and take the same time to stabilize? Are you running standard springs? Or lowered? Is one damaged or broken? Are both springs the same size - you never know what the previous owner did - maybe a hack job. I also recommend US ebay and adjustable height shock absorbers. The JZ80 Supra shockies also fit your car so you have more buying options.

If you don't - start saving up until you do!

Second hand sets can be had for about 1/3 of new prices or less if your patient.

how does everyones soarer rub the guards? i rolled mine with a pole, i am running:

17x9 +17 offset veilsides and i have never scrubbed ever. and the car gets a hiding,
a slight roll should be all you need. A pole is the easiest and most consistant. I did bens and brendans with a pole too :-)
