hey guys,
just about to order or get a cage made for my car. i can get cusco chromoly cages quite cheap so im keen to go down that road, however the cage doesnt go through the dash, ive been told by a few race engineers that you want the front part of the cage to get as close to the firewall as possible as its a big flex point there.the car is (mainly) track only so having the dash cut and bars running everywhere isnt a problem.
oppinions would be greatly appreciated!

Dori Bus ftw, w00t!!!
I was under the impression that the cusco cages are orderable around dash OR through dash? Might have to check with Dave on that one hey? Or maybe even email Cusco directly?
How many points were you after again, I can't remember what you said :/ If its got the cross bracing across the doors I can't see around the dash being much of a problem, but am open to opinions myself too! Want me to see if I can pester Bruce with it? I'm sure he'll know what would suit it best.

prices depend on material ie-chromoly or steel,a basic 4 point half cage in steel will cost about 550 excluding shipping
benny, spoke to lawson today and he said they only make around dash for the z30's but he said he may be able to sort something out through his other contacts, speaking to bruce wouldnt hurt!

Depends on what level of track work you are doing as to if they are CAMS approved or not.
ie something that meets all the regs for drifting comes no where near the regs required for Targa Tasmania. Basically you wont get one car that is compliant for all types of sealed surface track use unless you have VERY deep pockets (and I'm talking $20k+ on safety gear alone!!!) So the best bet is to figure out what you want the car to be used for and investigate the compliance regulations from there.
