does not have to be !!..30..31...32 can have t/control. if yours was a G pack it would have it ..sometimes called slip control. Paul I just hate to see a great piece of engineering stressed. DR

Gotta say, went for a Motokhana event on Sunday, all being as it was, 1st and 2nd run on the course saw pretty much massive amounts of smoke fromt he rears, and pretty average times.
Once we got a bit of water onto the track, I was able to feather and play with the throttle, get both wheels to spin and zip the car around with more traction, and get decent times.
The time taken from the above photo was a 16.9.
Time taken with water on the track and more controlled throttle was 15.9
Time taken with Traction Control switched on, 18.4
It's now time to start puting pennies aside for an LSD.

That's the first and only time it's ever done anything more than standard street driving since it's been in Australia (and since I can vouch for it).
A well maintained and looked after car can do amazing things, and the occasional wide open throttle with hard cornering at 90km/h is not exactly going to destroy it.
That said, there is a time and place for that sort of behind the wheel entertainment, and it's far from a street near residents or any other people.
This was performed under controlled conditions on the Skid Pan at Oran Park raceway, the camera man was the closest person to the track, and was 500 meters away from the car at the time.

It was more fun out at Oran Park than on the streets.
We have a 1/4 mile with run off area for drag racing, a skid pan and course to test your skills and be timed, then we have car vs car slalom events to test drag + skill together, it was awesome.
And there was none of this "Dude, did ya see me rip him" (because the other guy wasn't trying.
Everything was weighed up, timed, and everyone was at a fair advantage.
The Soarer vs Mazda 6 MPS was very close on the drags, but the Soarer had the top end power, the Mazda 3 MPS was quicker right through the range, but ran out of space to catch up in.
Through the Slalom the Soarer was 0.23 seconds slower than the MPS6, but had the better turn at the end of the slalom track before returning, and beat all the Nissan boys
I was there as a marshall for the event, so I didn't compete past the first round, but the car was slutted out to a few people and was going through the ranks.
What strikes me is someone being able to get out of a front wheel drive SP23 Mazda, into a Soarer, and be able to handle the car, it's either very good engineering from Toyota making an easy to drive car, or very good driving from the CHICK that got into my car.
Either way, a great day.
I will have to speak to the powers that be, and see if I cant organise somethinhg similar for the Soarer people of NSW.
