i have been doing some research into replacing my airbags with coilovers or coils/springs and i am wondering what people recommend. i know that buying new airbags is supposed to be the best way but $4000 is to much for me on apprentice wages.
i have been looking at HSD coilovers which i can purchase for $1450 and i can choose whatever spring rates i wish. (any recommendations on spring rates is very welcome) OR secondhand tein flex for around the same money
i have been shying away from coils/springs setups due to a lack of adjustability, but have also been told that the linear valving in most asian coilovers tends to make the ride uncomfortable.
basically i am looking for peoples experiences, keeping in mind that i wish to keep the car very streetable, whilst not being opposed to it being harder id like to keep it in the realms of comfort.

Some stuff I found when I was looking into buying my suspension. I ended up with Tein Super streets. The spring rate (9kg/mm front, 5kg/mm rear) is pretty good for the street. My family still use the car for trips away with no complaints from the missus. My Dad (who doesn't like cars) thinks it is a bit harsh(he drives a magna.)
In my opinion 17 kg/mm etc would be excessive for a daily driver, but good on the track. Whilst I like the Teins, I would look more seriously at the HSD if I had to do it all over again. (no one I knew had used them at the time - since then they are all over the import motorsport scene)

You can get Tein Super streets brand new for $1340 delivered and Tein monoflex for around $1800. PM if you want contact details. It ships from Japan though so a week or so in delivery time.

It's been a while...
I am pretty sure I was speaking to the Fulcrum suspension guy (who developed the 'Australian package'). The Superstreets direct from Japan are a lot harder. I have the original packaging in the shed somewhere. It may be written in there somewhere as well.
I chose the Teins because of the softer spring rates after being in a D2 equipped car and hated it.

i changed from air bags to coils, I do not know what brand but it rides great, only problem is the tems or active suspension japanese code won't go away on the dash. i have noticed the cables to the air struts arn't hooked up and was wondering if i hook them up will this cause damage as the electronic air bags are no longer there. the coils i got cost $500 and was $200 for labour i think at some place in north east road adelaide. after he changed them over i drove it home and the cd stacker wasn't functioning the perfect way it was before and the boot wouldn't open from the inside of the car by pressing the button. i wished i had replaced the air bag instead now as you can get 1 air bag for around $250 also i have a height controller but i was thinking of a long term fix at the time. up to you though just thought i would share my experience.

Just guessing, but they may have removed the fuse that drives the air pump when doing this conversion, not sure if that also provides power for the stacker and boot release.
