I have a problem with my rear left hand side tyre loosing pressure very quickly (unevenly). I have 18" tyres and I pump the fronts 34 and the rears 32. While all of the other tyres might loose 1 PSI, the LHS rear tyre would be down to ~ 25 after just one week.

I am in the process of purchasing new bushes to replace my worn ones, but could the rear LHS tyre be loosing pressure due to the rear LHS shock? The Pedders test i had done a few weeks ago mentioned that the rear LHS shock is leaking.

I read on the forums how expensive airbag struts can be, and that they are different, my question would be, can just one airbag strut be replaced at a time (ie, swap it with a new strut), and not having to replace all 4 at once? Other options would be second hand struts or changing to coilovers i guess.

This topic [ air struts over coil-overs ]has been well hashed .
I believe that the air struts are in fact very very cost effective even at $800.00 each for genuine replacements .
I mean the last lot went for 15 odd years !!!
Think of any other strut that will do that .
I also keep hearing how people have gone to coil-overs and proclaim that they are so much better , better than what , 16 year old air struts !!!
Try comparing new coil-overs to new air struts and then see which is best and I can tell you it's a no brainer !!
Anyhow it sounds like you have a leaking rear strut and yes they can be replaced one at a time .
I have some low milage rears coming from Japan shortly if you are interested , but if you intend to hang onto the car for some time think seriously about fitting new units .

And get your tyre fixed. Tyres losing pressure has nothing to do with anything else but the tyre itself - or the valve.

Ok, thanks, wasn't sure if the airbag could have had anything to do with the tyre loosing pressure or not. For the moment the airbags still seem to function, car height works, and the car doesn't seem to be leaning on one side. It would be good to compare coilovers with brand new airbags.

Fix your tyre...

Oh and pedders were probably referring to an Oil leak not an air leak.
if the oil leaks your shock absorber isnt working. if air leaks the height wont stay.

OH and pop your bonnet, on the passenger side bank of your engine check that the "710" cap is on tight enough. These can often leak and let the rear tyres down.

Um..... considering the fact the air strut and tyres are completely independent of each others physical behavior that wont be the case at all!

It's obvious your tyre has a leak, take it to a shop and they will try find the leak, if its repairable its around $20 or so.

Your second separate problem is your Air struts shock has had it's day and now the air bag rubber has split and leaking air. It will need to be replaced - you should replace the shocks in pairs...... if you do one shock in my opinion thats new VS old, you will have different performance levels from either shock.

Yep, I will fix the tyre, I'm suspecting the valve, but i'll have to see...Yes, Pedders were talking about the shock leaking (oil), but the way I understood it, you have to replace the whole airbag strut.

Or a warped/damaged rim.
