Hmmm... I'm currently carrying a bit too much camber (and not enough offset on the front either)

lust lowered it again and need to find time (and somewhere that can cater for lowered vehicles) for an alignment

Speaking of which... I tried fitting some 8mm spacers behind the fronts tonight, but had nowhere near enough wheelstud left over for the nuts.

IF I were to get longer studs (say +15-20mm extra), and affixed the spacers to the hubs, would this create any extra stresses on things such as balljoints, suspension, etc, that I should be concerned about

Oh, and dont comment on paint... its definitely on the list!

They are slip ons, but was looking for a way to permanently affix them if possible.

This is just in the short term.

Dont exactly have a couple of K floating around at the moment to go spending on new rims and tyres (as much as I'd love to)

I've been running hub centric spacers on my car for a while to clear the 4 pot brakes. Ordered some extra long wheel studs and then cut them down so that the nut just covered the stud when tightened. Never had any dramas so far and the car is far from babied. Although I think its important that the spacer is a proper one that fits exactly without any spacing between it and the hub.

do not run slip ons!! the cheap way out will cost you in the long run! as david said above your wheels need a hub to sit and locate on,the further you push the wheels away from them the more chance you run of having the wheels fall off! there is way to many people doing this of late,if you cant afford new rims with an offset that suits, get some bolt on spacers-with a hub centre, they are a mere 65-110 each!

I have more neg camber than that

around -8.5 rear and -6 front when I hit switches.

It's amazing at -7ish deg the rear is real slippery and car live to slide probably cos only 055 of the 265's are on the blacktop lol

btw the angle in the pic is deceptive, in reality its heaps of neg camber... as an example aired up and at reasonable ride height there is not enough gap to slide a credit card between the tyre and wheel arch.... yet it never rubs

It never rubs because when he hits a bump and the wheel goes up into the arch, the camber curve pulls the top of the wheel in instead of the wheel just moving strait up into your fender

Oh and also andrew, I'm on coilovers, are you on coils or air?

And Ali,
As if the stance isn't awesome!

This is what would help the car to handle like crap when it hits a bump in a corner, were Andrew to hit the switches other than for display (though he is quite aware of this).

Maybe they like replacing half worn tires all the time and reducing grip levels?

Yeah Tim, a wider offset will place more strain on everything. It'll even soften the ride as it gives the suspension more leverage over your springs. That said, all those Nissan drift boys don't have any trouble (that I know of) so I'm sure your Toyota can handle it.

Oh, and as for the spacers themselves, try something like these.

Car handles awesome higher when the tyres are square with the road but a lil bit neutral even with a tad of understeer. But lower the back down and it gets nice and loose in the back (much more fun, but slower in the corners) but hey I didn't buy a V8 to set a hillclimb record, yet I brought it for it's majestic ride ( ok it's slow ) lol

tyre wear is good believe it or not, what a just as bad if not worse factor is at a really low height there is heaps of rear toe in. So far I've done about 7k and the tyres are holding up really good should get 30k I normally only ever get 10k max on tyres on the back of a rwd car. Dunno why

Thanks Spencer... that car is long dead now :-)

Damned 4wd decided to give it a facelift.
See here:
http://soarercentral.com/sc-forum/messages/285/285574.html?1241314908

I did eventually upgrade to better wheels instead of dicking around with spacers.

gah, that'll teach me to not check the post dates..

Bad luck about the V8 man. My Soarer's in a similar state of insurance (or lack there of) so I get paranoid if I have to leave it anywhere other than my garage for more than 5 mins..
