Hey peoples,

IM currently looking into some new Rear tyres! Just curious whos using what and how they rate them :-) Im Looking at 265/35/18 or 275/35/18's at the moment ( currently run 265's).

Basically i wanna get something decent under the back end, im sick of not having traction in 1st and half of 2nd gear anymore,lol...

I know we have some older thread,s but Lets revise and update, so we can help everyone make their decision too :-)

So Please list Brand, Size , Location, and where you purchased from inc price :-)

Cheers, Daniel.

I can sell you some 285 30 18 Continentals second hand 90%+ tread for $1000. I did use them for a few thousand km's before i put the 285 40 18 Yoky Advans Sport on. Traction on the Conti's is as good as it gets with high hp, I bought them s/h also for $1000. I put the Yoks on to burn them up as the size is to big for resale and fit nicely in my flared guards, they also give me good traction on the road because of the extra tyre wall height. My profile picture is with the 40 series yokahamas

I recently put a set of Direzza 265 18's on which I am pretty happy with.

Reasonable price/performance mix.

Matt.

A 265 would be heaps - I have a 265 on my 10in rear and it's slightly stretched.

Most width I would go, buldgy tyres look bad and are sloppy

Matt, i currently have 265's, but am looking at spedning a bit more on something half decent :-) Having all this torque makes 265's act like 175's,lol...

Dave, 255's on a 9.5" rim will stick in at a slight angle and not fit 100%.

265's or 275's are probably the best fit but as I'm sure you are aware every tyre bead is different and not all 275's are the same width once mounted.

Daniel, grab a set of Pilot Sports.

$700 total?

i have 245s on front, 275s on rear, cheap nankangs and they cost more than $700. 18" 9.5 front, 10.5 rear.

id say youd be getting tyres made out of ass for that size and price

Ask a price on Eagle F1. They are a very high quality tyre and much cheaper than otherwise similar (albeit superior) Michelins. They are especially good in the wet and wear pretty well. The price may require some negotiation with the other half but little more than half the negotiation required for Michies.

I use Eagles on the Soarer and Pilot Sport 2 on the IS and am highly satisfied with both in their contexts. I have repeat-bought both.

I have Yokohamas on mine, they're pretty good... wear nicely and have quite good dry grip, however in the wet I haven't tried anything to break their traction. I may switch out to the Kumhos when the Yokohamas wear out.
