Hi all....am in a dilemma now....currently having these 19 inch wheels on. Rear (285-35-19)(11inch)...Front (255-40-19)(10 inch).... and the handling is horrible....some said that its because of these sizes....the handling is bad....so i am in a dilemma if i should get a 18 inch instead...and what would be a great fit for the soarer...which looks great and handles great?
There is no new after market shocks available.....we got to get them through the web...currently running on stock shocks.....But we do have customised schok makers here in malaysia...do you think that would be alright?....planning to change all the arms and the bushes though...
the offset is 29+... and the width is 10.5j rear and 9.5j front...u think that would be ok?

I'd say the handling issues would be down to a combination of old suspension bushes throughout and the large 29+ offset which soarers aren't set up for...
The rolling diameter is also a bit bigger than stock which changes things around further, ~ +4% difference on the rear and ~ +5% for the front which probably help's to amplify and bumps & tram lining... plus putting your speedo out a touch!

I've just bought a set of Boges for our car. They're nominally German but have factories all over the world. There are no "Made in......" marks anywhere I can find on shocks or boxes. They were AUD135.40 each. KYB and Tokico also list shocks for the Soarer and even Gabriels are listed on Ebay in US quite cheap, around USD200/set plus hefty freight of course.
The Boge parts numbers are available off the Boge Au site or I can supply them if you want.
You might find different part numbers in other catalogues (I certainly did when I checked ZF in USA). The shocks appear to be made in Japan (at least my boxes have that on the bottom).
Thanks a million mike....how i wish i am in australia...so many parts ...so many soarer enthusiast...how do you find the shocks?....are they soft-hard and high low adjustables?

Prem, I'm in the outback of WA and those shocks came from the east coast somewhere, via Perth!
My shocks are ordinary replacement items, Prem. I didn't want coilovers nor do I want to lower my ride as it's low enough given the quality of roads up here and the frequent occurrence of dead animals on the road.
My Mrs is from Msia and she knows a mechanic there so maybe I'll check with her on who to contact over there.

Prem, mech is away (HR) for several weeks. I note that KYB are made in Msia, although not for Soarers, one assumes that they would be able to get any KYB shock in?
There is also the Ebay option, they are quite cheap out of US, and the same for most models except Active/air shock model. The freight is expensive but cost all up similar to what I paid for Boges. So all models SC300/400 Lexus are the same except as noted above, from 1991-2000, in terms of the shocks they take.

same size as my normal set of rims although my offset is much lower +10 front and +12 rear, and she handles great...although the suspension and such is far from stock...
replacing old/worn out suspension components is your best bet in pursuit of a better handling car!

Handling cant be summed up in 1 word, explain why it is handling badly? Even if every bush in your car is absolutley rooted, you can still corner pretty damn fast. I would be looking into your very low ride height and telling us what you have in there atm. As it does not look stock height.
most people dont even realise that they are hitting their bump stops, There was 1 guy on here that did realise and pedders just put in some urethane spring seat spacers.
Any way point is, you most likely have some rooted shocks and crap too soft very low springs.
But try to explain exactley how it is handling, and not just "horrible"
Well, thought about it deeply, and since i am using my ride for comfort 85% of the time and and a mere 15% for fast drive, i decided to go on with the OEM arms. Front upper and lower arm, Ream upper arm and 2 lower arms and the strut rod, anti roll bar rubber bushes cost me almost 2500 USD. But then now its a 99.99% new ride feel. That was why i concerned about my wheel size, dont want to spend another 3000 USD in 2 years time.
Hi guys....just awakening the thread again....i saw this techno magnesio rims in one shop last week...its apparently a Italian rim...now longer available...originally built for Supra's....extremely light magnesium alloy stuff...can handle 700HP....would it look good on the ride...its no deep dish at all..
