Hey guys,

I just had my diff replaced with a 2nd hand one as my previous diff shat itself. After 4 hours of pulling the old one out and then putting in the 2nd hand one, I took the car for a spin, and the diff is whining...more under de-acceleration than under acceleration. Is the diff stoofed, or might it be an oil issue, or being left sitting for too long in the yard. What causes the diff to whine like this?

A reply ASAP would be appreciated, as if it is stuffed I can drop it out and take it back to the wreckers where I bought it from...

Cheers,

Sounds like it's stuffed to me. The gears have a hard casing on them, and when that's warn off it's all over. Sorry for the bad news.

Thanks Mike,

Will take it back and get it replaced with an Aristo Diff he had there...only reason i took the soarer once was a quick changeover. I believe that with the Aristo one, I will need to change the yoke with my existing diff in order for it to fit properly...

Cheers.
