I'm going to have to get rid of my Simmons 17" rims because they won't fit over my supra 4 pots. I'm after some good looking 5 spokes, with primary concerns being that they look OK, are easy to clean, and are on par with the handling I get from the Simmons, (and of course have sufficient clearance for the calipers)

Can anyone who has done the same upgrade make any recommendations or post pics with what they have fitted? I've looked through the various threads that have rims posted, but nothing so far has caught my eye except Lawrences' factory 17" rims from a Skyline v35 coupe. I'm not keen on deep dish wheels or the blade/cheese grater look :-)

Have a look at my profile.

Do you like my rims? (they will work with supra 4 pot brakes)

PM me.

And these are supra rims. Both are 17lnch and both can have 255 on the rear rims. You have a lot of choice.

I think that you best bet would be to go to a shop and have them try some rims on your car to ensure that they fit. Or you could always try spacers on the front to make your current wheels fit.

Yes best idea. (did this myself)
TSW Thruxton and Nogaro with a 40 offset fitted
over the Celsior 4 pots. Could suit Supra 4 pot.
I decided to stick with what I've got at the moment.
You might remember these Mark.

yes, still looking nice :-)
What is the offset on those, Evan? I don't think I even knew about offset back when i bought & sold those. I'm guessing +50 being Lexus rims ?

Did you get your Celsior calipers new?

Hmmm, glad I got those Celsior rims so I don't need to worry about wheels just yet, I will be getting a set for front Celsior brakes after the new year as a well as brake accumulator to boot, will worry about the rears and lines when I feel the need for upgrading.

I'm actually taking my Soarer off the road this week, taking the PS pump out for a rebuild, finally started to make bad sounds.

Should be epic fun...

The 17" Supra wheels look ideal on the Soarer, if you could find them would you consider those Mark?

yeah I think I would, Mike, as long as they were in good condition, simply for the fact that it saves alot of shagging about trying to find wheels with the proper measurements etc.. I don't have the time or money unfortunately these days to be too picky.

Also I think the supra 17's are the same width on the front and back as my Simmons, so a straight swap with my current tyres - i just haven't had the time when i've thought of it to get down there and measure them!

Hi Mark, yes they are still very tidy wheels,
Advanti Stalkers with a 36 offset. The ride isn't
too bad after I got new bushes and a decent wheel alignment x3.
The Celsior calipers, rotors and pads are 2nd hand, from NZ Car Parts.

Mike, If one could find such a set of wheels, one would be crazy to pass up the opportunity to purchase.

As much as I hate to give away an auction I want, I just don't know if I can afford these right now:

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=189536997

Same as my car, except 18s, and a little wider. I think they will fit.
Dogs to clean(I've been doing mine over the past week-lots of tar) but good rims. These are what I'm looking at for my supra brake upgrade.
Heres a pic:

And my rims:

Edit: I forgot to mention, these are ridiculously light wheels as well.

Ok, so we are still looking for wheels that will clear celsior and/or supra brakes with an offset close to stock. (45ish to 50)?
And what about a bit of dish? (45ish to 50).

Yes, once i've found some replacements to go in. Had the wheels fitted this morning but didn't pay attention to whether the wheels have to be removed to pop out the cap. Is that the case with yours, Blake?
Must say I prefer the look over the previous 12 spoke rims.

Nah... I never had caps with my rims. I thinking about putting the caps on (some aftermarket cap) I'm not sure if it will look good.

Can you post of some photos of the rims on your car?

cheers.

Very nice Mark, I like them more than the Simmons 3 piece wheels.

You just need to have the height lowered a couple of centimeters

yeah I know, it would look better lowered, but several reasons why i can't do that for the meantime, first and foremost I have just moved into a place last weekend which has a massive bump on the right of the driveway just beyond the pathway - i am having to raise the air suspension to clear it :-(
