Having to spend big $$ now because in order to fit larger dust covers, hubs have to be removed, apparently necessitating the replacing of the wheel bearings on both sides. Also, thread in front right hub is damaged, so having to send that down the road to be re-threaded. Soarer most likely in the shop overnight. CLUCKING BELL!!!

I didn't replace the dust covers when I did my brake upgrade. Others have modified them to allow them to be fitted without removing the hub but cutting them, which is the way I removed my existing covers. Matt

What happened Mark? you can cut the covers apparently http://planetsoarer.com/suprabrakesII/SupraBrakeUpgrade.htm see the picture with the original and new covers-just a cut-out needed!

yeah i did read that page prior to purchasing the Supra TT brake kit (which had new, larger dust covers included) but until I was told of the problem today, I just assumed the Supra dust covers were larger and of a slightly different design which would require hub removal. It would have been helpful for idiots like me to have had a photo of the new dust cover with the cut already done The wording was not explicit enough to illustrate the same cutting should be done to the new cover. Matt - yes, I've heard some have bent the old dust covers back, but when you have shiny new ones, the temptation is to fit them DOH

Mark,I assume with the supra dust covers, that the fixing holes line up with threaded holes on the Soarer stub axle. If so, are the covers readily available and what is the cost?

I got mine for $117 including fitting kit($13) last week Evan. Cheapest I could find. Looks like they will line up nicely.

Evan - the dust covers came with the kit I bought from Rutherford and Bond Toyota in Wellington - they are currently selling another kit on trademe, so you could enquire if they have spare dust covers http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=192318759

Yippee, new wheels don't fit over new calipers. Soarer currently on jacks awaiting me going into debt to acquire a 2nd set of new wheels. Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up drinking.

Not sure about needing a cert in NZ - our laws about vehicle modification are a lot looser over here Matt. You should be able to find out all that info on line Mark, LTSA have loads of info on their website.

| Thanks, Matts x 2. I did look over a month or so ago at possibility of spacers, but in the end I decided yesterday after getting advice from others that I didn't want to go that route. Walked into Herb Morgans this morning, saw a set of rims that looked like they'd do the job, took one away to test fit, then came back and did the lot. Car now back with me. Highly recommend Herb Morgans (Onehunga) for anything wheel related. Always helpful with advice, friendly service, and good deals. Also Mayne Automotive (Onehunga) for servicing, all mechanical tasks. Blake - having now tried with the same wheels and calipers, I can't understand how yours are fitted without spacers. Can you shed some light on this? Photos: 17" x 9 all round.

| It's sweeet ;) haha, yeah it bites well, but I will have to put it through its paces before I can judge definitively. Once all the wheels were on and the saga was over, Bill at Mayne had a bit of a wider grin when he said, "Now I have to go road-test it.."
