Hey folks - I'm interested to know which aftermarket coilovers you have in your Soarers. My 31's airbags are heading towards scrooted and I'm thinking of ditching them altogether in favour of a good set of coilovers. This motive is mainly because of the heart attack I experienced when I found out the cost of new airbags...
My Soarer will eventually become a weekend weapon project car, when I've got the cash to buy one of those new Swifts (awesome little town rocket... let's turbo the hell out of that too!). That way I can eliminate arseholes bumping their doors into my Soarer at the supermarket, and the thing will actually stay clean for longer than a day.
So - my requirements for coilovers... something pretty sporty, eliminating body roll as much as possible... adjustable settings are always a plus too. I'd like it to be pretty firm, but I don't want to feel the bump when I run over an ant on the road. What sort of gear are you guys running?

I am running JZA80 Tein CST's on my UZZ30.
They are in theory height and damper adjustable. The height adjustment is no use really as they aren't platform adjustable just spring perch adjustable and lowering the perch just affects the spring preload and does little to the height adjustment.
Either you go hard out and get decent platform adjustable damper and rebound adjustment coilovers or you save some money and get standard spring and shock setups. The in between coilovers aren't much chop in my opinion.
If you search on here you will find a ton of threads on suspension. It's hard to beat the Bilstein shocks for performance. A set of original Supra JZA80 struts with Bilstein shocks and King or other springs is a pretty good setup.

I was hoping for your input Daniel, since I read you have a new coilover setup! Where did you pick up your Bilsteins? And do you have a picture of your car with the new shocks?
I'm not too worried about the ride comfort, it's more the reliability and handling I'm looking for. I want to save cash and get a Swift to tear around town with and retire the Soarer as a weekend weapon with a fat Whipple setup, manual box and lots of other go-fast bits.

Hells yeah! It'll never have the same resale value as the price I paid for it, so I may as well make it more enjoyable and drive it into the ground!
I had full intentions of keeping it stocko... I even had reservations about taking to the air box with a hacksaw blade, but bugger it... and you gotta agree, blown V8 Soarers sound insane!
