peter, you definatley can do "power slides" with an lsd, in fact it is much easier! a torsen diff acts like a locker when it loses traction, in that it locks up and spins both wheels at the same time. In fact a torsen diff is much more predictable then an open wheeler. with an open wheel it is impossible to tell when one wheel will grab traction and cause the other one to spin, it is much harder to control if things get out of shape. At a recent skidpan day with another club i went for a ride in my mates TT with an open diff, and it was much harder to predict what it was goint to do when the back stepped out, whereas with my torsen diff it was easy to control when it stepped out. Also you wont have the issue with a torsen lsd of the clutch plates wearing out and the diff getting loose like clucth type lsd's can when they get a little old. $1000 is usually what a standard torsen lsd will cost second hand, much less then brand name aftermarket clutch type lsd's. and from all accounts the torsen is preferable over a clutch type lsd for its characteristics and behaviour during normal driving. In fact i didnt even know i had a torsen lsd until i checked the build plate a couple of months after i bought my TT lol

Well said David. People, please read your posts before you post them, that is what the preview is for. If you read it and can't understand it, then we sure as hell won't be able to either. Brian, that whole post was just terrible.

Thanks for the help guys.

This LSD talk is making me so tempted to whack one in ASAP!!! hahaha two wheel burnouts here i come!!! haha

i think there are issues when trying to put a jza80 diff in, there are a couple of different models of the torsen diff, i think they are called A and G series centres, and you have to have to right one. jza70 suras also used torsen lsd's. do a search for which is the appropriate one for the soarer.

I believe the NA supra torsen is a straight fit but the TT supra torsen is a really big job. That's for a complete diff change, I'm not sure about just the centres though.
