Hey guys,

Well my steering rack is leaking and has a bit of play in it so thought i'd ask if anyone knows the part number so I can see how much a new one will cost? I Just wanna compare it to a used one from a wreckers or whatever to see if its worth it. Also if anyone has a good condition steering rack for sale or wants to rebuild mine for cheap let me know haha.

What year is your Soarer?

Check out that link and have a look see for yourself mate.

As for buying one NEW i reckon it would be about 1500 !

Just get your current one reco'd then it will last for many many years to come.

OR find a second hand unit and hope for the best

:-( :-( $1600 just for the rack. What a rip. Its a 1991. I will poke around for a second hand one, as long as the boots are good and can't feel any fluid sloshing in the boots it should be fine for at least as long as a rebuild.

Do you know any wreckers or places that rebuild steering racks around Brisbane?

Got any power figures for your car? Looks pretty clean. How do you find the turbo bag? I've never liked the look of them but in at least theory they seem like a great idea and I don't know why you wouldn't use one for the price. Just wrap or ceramic coat the dump pipe and your laughing.

Hey you moved really quickly from the A.C.T to sunny QLD ! Congrats haha

I cant think of anyone off the top of my head who does them. Ask Lew if he has one, i dare say he would. Even if you buy an old one, get it reco'd and then swap it over into your car.

But im sure the yellowpages would help you find a reco mob.

As for my car. Last tune (which was the 1st one when i got my single setup a while ago) it made 240RWKW on 14 PSI. Not very high at all.

But since then ive changed my rear housing to a smaller one for better response, added cam adjustable cam gears and upped my boost a tiny bit to 16PSI. I really should get it retuned again soon but it all costs money. I would be happy with an easy 260RWKW but no more (although it could do it) as i dont want to smash my Auto.

Turbo bag - yeh im a BIG fan of it. I paid about 170 for it cos its not a brand name wanker one and it works a charm, i also have my dump heat wrapped.

HEY ! now you are a bannana bender, we are cruising in a couple of weeks to Noosa. You should get involved if you can.

Haha I have been in Brisbane for just over a week now so thought i'd change my profile :-) that said I did door to door in 13 hours flat which isn't a bad time.

Yeah I will send him a PM or give him a call when I find his details.

Woo for the auto slush box :-)

I might come, will have to wait till a bit closer to give a definite answer. If only my soarer wasn't a piece of crap haha. Getting a new car this year anyways - was thinking a VVTI turbo 5 speed but now im thinking of jumping to a nissan haha :-) G35 is a pretty nice car.

yeh those G35s are very nice indeed !

But so are the VVTI 5 speeds... could be a little hard to find but when you do you will be happy with it no doubt. I would choose a Toyota over a Nissan though.

Yeh do have a think about the cruise mate, will be a good day and a great opportunity to meet some other members, doesnt matter what your car looks like either, you can pick up soo many easy tips when you are actually speaking face to face with fellow soarer folk.
