Real quick one. I've dislodged a bit of dandruff looking at the rubber peice between the tailshaft and the diff and for the life of me cant suss out how to take it out without removing the whole diff
I've undone the rubber peice from the tailshaf/diff, I have even undone the diff drom the body (3 bolts rear, 2 bolts front), but left the axles onand have it supported by a trolley jack.
The jack has been raised and lowered trying to find room to get this thing off... however no cannot do due to the shaft from the diff still not having enough room to clear the donut.
I spoke to Ramyn, he mentioned the diff doesnt need to be dropped at all, but to just wedge a bar or something between the tailshaft and donut (after undoing the tailshaft from the donut).... but after trying, it looking at it and thinking the tailshaft really doesnt have anywhere to go by doing this... I'm left thinking, apart from dropping the whole bloody diff, how the hell am I meant to remove this bloody thing?
Any advice on an EASIER way to swap this thing over?

oh well... I'm done for the day... pissed enough of my weekend up the wall already on this thing... looks like its staying on stands for the week until next weekend where I will have to waste even more time on it.
If anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, I'd be glad to hear them... because I'm sure as hell stumped on it
Took three bolts out of one axle and then realised the fun I had swapping a diff last time... would REALLY like to avoid that doing that again if I can.
Right now though the best thing I can do is walk away from it as its becoming way too frustrating (and because the voices in my head keep telling me to take the hammer and use it on whole vehicle hahaha)

weird, i replaced the clutch in my transmission about 3 months ago and mine just slipped straight out, undid the centre bearing, pulled the driveshaft of the pin, slid it back towards the diff to clear the shaft of the trans spline and dropped the transmission, theres nothing to it. Unless of course the pin decides to seize to the shaft HAHA.
it's ok mate, i dont mind really. i do it everyday. so no hasel at all mate. cheers. if ya cant get it sorted give me a ring.
you will have to drop the centre bearing. leave the diff bolted in place. drop centre bearing indo rear bolts of the tail shaft, and the tail shaft should push into the tranny far enough so that it will drop of the diff. cheers.
it is really simple.. yours might be sized but.. but still should come off.

Hey Mike, thanks for the tips
Centre Bearing support was already undone.
I decided to removed the heat shields intront of the axles (from where the 1st set of factory mufflers sit)... gave me a lot more room to come in at the yolk from the sides
Anyways, with the extra space from doing that, I was able to try wedging off the tailshaft from a fe different angles and eventually got it off there! It was stuck on there good alright... puzzles me why.
Such a relief... got the new donut on, and got the tailshaft all bolted back on by about 8pm
Anyways, thanks for the asistance guys... hopefully it will be easier next time around now that I know this little trick

You mean the centre bearing David?
I'm still having the problem... at crawling speeds it feels like my rear passenger side wheel is oval shaped and it causes a ticking at each revolution
This creates a vibration at higher speeds which goes through the car, and the god awful knocking sound from the rear end.
I'm absolutely certain there's nothing wrong with the wheel, and if it where wheel balance it wouldnt be doing it at snail speed... but I will get it checked out just to satisfy that curiosity.
Other than that, the new owner-to-be is aware of the problem and is aware that he is buying the car 'as is'. I said I'd try fixing it, but if I couldnt then its up to him (which he is ok with)... see how I go.
