It's straight forward, but if raising the car, make sure you use jack stands, as a fair bit of force may be needed to undo the drain bolts.

You need an allen key and probably something for a lever, I had a length of steel tube available.

Basically, jack the car, undo top refill bolt, then undo bottom drain bolt on the side of the diff, catch smelly oil as it comes out.

Check the plug for debris as it's magnetic. If it's got chunks, then start looking for a new diff.

Refit bottom bolt, use a pump to refill the diff through the top bolt hole.

Clean up and throw away any oily rags, as the smell will never come out.

I did this on my TT open diff and it was a pain in the butt trying to refill with oil. You need like a 1 ltr oil bottle with a length of hose, with the hose in the filler hole, squeeze the bottle and this should work.

Glad this does not have to be done very often, and I do all my work at a family members house who have a hoist in their shed.

awesome, thats this weekends job. The diff takes 1.8l of 80w/90 according to my valvoline rep who looked it up for me.

I dont have jack stands but i have car ramps that i use to change my engine oil, id imagine they would be fine.

Just fill it until it starts dribbling out the top plug hole, and you're done. Mine took about 1.6 litres, but its just a JZZ31, JZZ30 might take a bit more.
