I've decided to bite the bullet and order 4 new airbags from Mr. T ($$$$) Just wondering what I should be paying to have them fitted, cause I have neither the time nor the patience to do it myself (unless it's sooooo easy that I can do it in the carport)

it's soo easy you can do it your self.... but if you havent got the right tools and know how it will take you hours i'd say $350 to fit, thats what it'd cost me here... but some places will try to rob you and charge maybe 500ish

just say a mechanic charges $80 per hour labour it will not take 7 and a half hours to do the job! criminals i took my struts (rear) out @ 2.30am in the dark after work when i was bored.... trying to be quiet and it took me no longer than 30min no a mechanic air tools and a hoist.... my suspension place can change a macpherson strut car... slightly harder job than a soarer in under an hour.... thats struts out, springs compressed and all assembled!!! he's a legend... and i know that thats how long it takes cos i've had a previous car done err umm... a few times... till there wasnt any suspension left lol

Maybe I'll give it a go myself if I can't find anyone for cheaper... Haven't got a hoist but I'm sure I can manage. I take it the hardest part is dis connecting the air hoses?

Expensive! 3500 Delivered for all 4 is the best I've come up with. Need to replace them in pairs as well. As the internals have changed over the years. Essentially I'll be putting in 97 bags.

I need them. One of my rears is totally clunky although none leak at the moment. Other 3 will be up for sale when I swap them over. Just need to convince the missus that I need them... *grumble grumble*

hahahahaha, and I thought I was the only one that suffered from the hard to convince bank manager. When you say in pairs. I assume across the car. So if you replace the front left, you need to do the front right at the same time. Is that right?

Unfortunately no, and I'm already getting grief over it... *sigh* But, yes, fronts at the same time and back at the same time. But I have heard the backs are less important because they are controlled as a pair (no side to side). They changed the internals of the airbags back in 96 so if you cut new and old ones open they would be different. Still controlled the same. I think it was something to do with the valving. From what I've heard there's a HUGE difference between 18 year old airbags and new ones. We shall see I suppose... when I get the OK to go ahead that is.

if you dont get the go ahead, just do what i do.... go and put a hole in one.... then you cant drive the car cos the wheels wont turn... then you have to get new ones!! yeah new struts are just slightly better than 18yo ones... lucky it's not a ford cos the wheels would have fallen off by now i always get the go ahead...

Good luck Ashley. I have to fight this fight soon I think. The front left is looking a little sad and the compressor is coming on a fair bit. Nice try Andrew, but doesn't work. You get told to sell the stupid car because it cost money, and you'd be better buying a corolla just for her

| I'm afraid I have to agree with Michael. Already I get told that it costs too much, she wasn't impressed when I rocked up home with the supercharger (and a empty bank balance)
