TEMS switch has nothing to do with the air component of the suspension. Switch off the air suspension in the boot. In fact, disconnect the battery :-)

I have never even done this change but I have little (if any) doubt about this bit of advice.

I asked a similar question about the boot switch when working on the air compressor.

The short answer is the switch in the boot isolates the airbags (airbag actuators should be closed) so they shouldn't go down. But to be on the safe side, you can put something under the car to stop it completely collapsing if nothing goes wrong.

I will be up for this kind of job real soon. It would be good if you can post back how it went or any gotchas that could be useful for myself and others.

Cheers,

Basic tool are required.

Jack, stands and a 10, 14 and a 17 or 19 spanner.

Make sure you turn the tems on to sport and turn the air suspension off (switch in the boot) before starting .

Get a small screw driver to release the air (poke it through the air line to the shock) in the shock both the original and new shock.

Compress the shock and you would be able to slide them in and out easily.

It should take no longer then 15min per strut removal and fitting the new one.

It's definitely easier to install then coilover suspension.

When lowering the car be aware that the car will sit on the jack as there is no air in the shock.

Make sure you try and get all the air out of the suspension because the car will pump air in the shock level.

did the replacing yesterday and went great. took roughly 15 mins to change it over very simple to do. when i un screwed the airline the air released then undo the top three bolts in engine bay and the one down low and pull the airbag down on it self and it nearly falls out! couldnt beleive how simple it was to do. and i had no problems with the other air bags droping or anything all i did before starting was turn the airbags off with the switch in the boot.

but while im on it my old airbag use to drop right down like air its self out when the car was siting. my new airbag when the car is siting it drops about half an inch or so and stays there i have left the car over night and so change should it drop or?
thanks guys.

Jack, I presume if all is working, it shouldnt drop overnight.
I have a problem with my RHF bag dropping overnight, but bag has been changed, so could be air line, or valve leak.
I will get around to it one day

yeah mine doesnt drop right down only drops about half an inch after about 10- 15 mins and stays that height i think maybe it could be something to do with my height controller maybe or maybe they are ment to do it from stock as my right front airbag drops as well a bit when the car is turned off. when you get around to fixing your airleak i would be interested to know what the problem was.
