Then do not accelerate so hard Murray. You can persuade it to change up by lifting your foot. I use the PWR setting even though I have separate control of the dampers but find all the difference in fuel consumption seems to come from how I drive it, whatever the switch setting.

Peter, I thought I read on TIF (I might be wrong) that the trackday setting was a phantom. That is, the setting exists but it is not and never was designed for track use but for testing. Does it not lock the shock entirely? You need some damping.
David, it isn't the correct name for it, but most people know it as "Trackday".
It's supposed to be a diagnostic mode and it switches the suspension and steering (where applicable) to their firmest setting. Most people love it as Jeff mentioned above.
On my UZZ30, it just puts a small white block on the dash display, which surely adds about 10rwkw!

Some of the better suspension controllers have the option for 'TEMS Hard' seeting too. I must see if I can get hold of one and find out how they do it. With the so-called 'track day' setting (actually TD = TEMS Diagnostic) you can't switch it on and off while driving. The computer only senses the link condition at start-up so fitting a switch doesn't do you any good unless you also turn ignition off/on after changing switch position....not a good idea! And, yes, it does disable ABS which is why I would like to have the option of hard TEMS and still have ABS (peak hour traffic with Canberra morons definately requires ABS). The power steering assist is also reduced which I don't mind.

I didn't test it tonight, but I am with Jeff, I have had the jumper on for over a year, but have definitely had ABS come on at times. So the jumper doesn't seem to do anything at all on a UZZ30 except the light on the dash.

I am very lucky to have contacted Shom about something, and he told me of the magical TS-E1 short for my UZZ31 Ltd. The change in steering and suspension behaviour is remarkable! I will definitely leave it that way, but I might just run a wire pair back into the cockpit so I can switch it off at times and see what I'm missing! I can wholeheartedly recommend this mod - thanks once again, Shom! This is why I love Internet Car Forums - so many clever, sharing people out there!

I have just downloaded the TEMS paper and how it works. It is very clever and changes from hard to soft in 5 milliseconds and in real time - i.e. it is constantly changing and adapting to the conditions. By setting it on 'firm' you are nulling the whole point of having TEMS in the first place which is to improve suspension damping characteristics and give you a better drive/road handling.
