Driving home last night my drivers side lower control arm broke , throwing the car over two lanes of traffic(replaced undies shortly afterwards). Have got it towed to a mates place , does anyone know how much to replace lower control arms (both sides).

Jeez that doesn't sound like much fun.
Have a look at the link below. Just gotta ask them a price for shipping both. I bought 2 about two weeks ago and shipping was about $250US for the two.

Will have a look thanks. Not much fun at all , hit the ground pretty hard don't know what else is damaged . Rim has a massive mark all the way around the inside , should be a good excuse to tell the missus i need new rims.

Na there not that strong the balljoint fails and the whole car drops happened to me like 2 months ago. Luckly i was only doing a low speed at the time. I had the same mark around the rim to. Really easy to put a new arm on though. Good time to replace the bushes while you do it. Mick

Yea stupid Toyota and Lexus very poorly designed and could quite easily cause a big accident resulting in death. Wonder if a lawsuit would be possible in that case. imagine doin 100 the the arm fails and the car skids and goes under a truck. pretty scary. Im checking mine as often as possible dont want it to happen again.

yea ill take some pics of my damaged one. Basically i was getting crunching noises when hitting bumps and i stupidly ignored it till it was to late. taking the wheel off and just give the balljoint a jiggle just check and make sure its all firm and make sure the boot isnt cracked.Or just take your car in to be checked. Pedders only charges like 14 bucks for a saftey check.

They are a very common design, and actually a lot better put together than many heavier cars. If you are going to ignore crunching sounds coming from your suspension on a 18 year old car, then I don't think you are going to get very far with a law suite I'm afraid.

haha was only a joke. And its not exactly the easiest thing to maintain. Most people take there cars to mechanics and forget all about the suspension sad truth
