Hey guys,

I didn't think this was true when I heard it, but a friend told me that somewhere in my soarer there was a switch or button that could swap my suspension between sports suspension and a softer suspension.. He said they were in all soarers.. I didn't believe it, but I had to ask because if it's true then I'm pretty happy (fix bumpy ride).

If it exists where is it and how does it work.

Cheers.

Your friend is talking about TEMS (Toyota Electronic Modulated Suspension). Your car may or may not have this.

Thanks. How can I check to see if my car does have it?

not all soarers got tems, but most did.

pop the bonnet and look at the strut tops, it should say tems on the covers and have some wires going into them.

if so, flick the econ switch in the car to change the stiffness.

most noticable if you try a hard launch with it set to econ it will launch much better than if in power, as the car gets better weight transfer to the back wheels (dont forget to switch back to power after you are off the line)

there is also a "track day jumper" for even stiffer suspension, search and ye shal find it.

I had a look under my bonnet and was wrapped to find that I do have tems..

This econ switch you talk about.. I'm not too sure where that is? is that the button near the gear stick where it says: Normal, ECT, Power? If not I have no idea where the econ switch is..

The econ switch has nothing to do with the suspension. It just changes the shift rpm of the gears.
If you have TEMS, the switches will be in front of the gear lever. I think the TT TEMS is different to the V8 TEMS. The V8 can change suspension height, as well as firmness(2 switches)
The TT only changes the firmness.

I'm pretty sure it does both, (change rpm and suspension settings) because I don't have a 'TEMS switch' but I do have TEMS.. I only have the pwr/normal switch.

Either way, look it up.

yes.

You can also make it even stiffer by using a simple paper clip in the diagnostic port under the engine. It will make your tems go into TRACK MODE.

A small square will show up on your dash when this has been done.

*search track mode for more details brother*
