Dropped the car off at pedders to replace my rear UCA bushes. They were completely destroyed.
Apparently, there has been so much movement in the Control arms that the bolt holding it on has bent.
If they can get it out without dropping the subframe it is a $250 labor charge, If they have to drop the subframe, $1K.
Who would have thought a 1`K charge to replace only the bushes
Also, the diff bushings have minor cracks in them. (see picture). The one on the left is large enough to put a spanner in.
There is also minor cracks in the drivshaft rubber thing? Pedders said this didnt need to be replaced as it only acts as a 'shock absorber' mechanism. (small cracks seen in the photo)

i dont see any pics of an upper control arm there lol

1K is a joke, you can buy 3 new soarers for that.... almost
pedders told me everything was rooted in my car, including the brandnew front lca bushes (still like new) but the rear uca ones that i know are stuffed they said were ok... ummm ok

They showed me how there was lots of free play in the UCA, and told me that they could not get the bolt out as the front bolt was very bent. The rear bolts came out fine though.
If the bolt snaps they would have to hire an external contractor to take it out

Sounds a bit steep to me.
To remove the rear subframe it's basically undo the shocks, undo the calipers and handbrake cable, disconnect the driveshaft and then unbolt the subframe.
Two people are needed and a hoist is a must but at $70-80 an hour thats around 12 hours labour which seems a bit.
If that includes removing the bolts, fitting the bushes in the arms and all the other areas that need sorting plus refitting then perhaps it's okay.

The nuts on the subframe are not captive so if the bolt breaks it will just knock out after dropping the front of the crossmember first.
The only reason the bolt is damaged is they have not used the correct procedure to undo it.. they must have rounded it off.
I have struck some very hard ones to undo but none I could not get with a long bar and lots of grunt and a single hex impact socket
You can get into it with a angle grinder if you just drop one side of the crossmember then take the head of the bolt and drive the shank out.. then just replace the bolt and jobs done.
Make sure you use rubber bushes as the nolathane type tend to end up squeeking.
