Hi people, hoping a guru can shed some light on the path back to having my Soarer mobile.
My front end cacked it a couple of weeks ago out on the highway. I got the car home thanks to a $110 tow truck service and concentrated on getting my old slapper R31 running again so I'd have wheels. Also good excuse to get the dead car in the carport going again!
I've done the test using the little port in the boot and a couple of fiddly bits of paper clip, and got each strut working individually. This is what is happening:
- compressor is going fine - both rear air struts go up and down - front right (driver's side) goes up just a little bit, and when it goes back down it looks WAY too low - front left doesn't budge, and is sitting on it's arse
Now... would I have a problem with an air line? Or perhaps a solenoid.... or would the front left strut be McRooted?
The front left was always a bit squishy ever since I got the car a couple of years ago... so I bought a front left strut and it's still sitting in the shed.
Advice? Anything you have would be greatly appreciated... I want my Soarer back!

Got a willing mechanic to take a look at it on an hoist. I obviously don't have one in the shed so I don't mind dragging the car down there to get it up in the air and the problem diagnosed.
I'll put the spare strut in the boot before I go down, so if that is the area requiring attention he can change it over and we'll have a deal.

Glen Have you connected the paper clips for the left front then tried to listen for air leaking?
Also you could have someone put the jumper in and out for the valve WITHOUT the compressor jumper and see if you can hear the valve clicking open/shut.
From everything I have read trying to solve mine I would guess that your left front bag is RS as they appear to be the first to go.
Don't forget to post here when you find out the problem, it just may help someone else.

As suspected, the front left bag was shot. I used two jacks to get the car airbourne (one at the rear, so I could actually get one under the front), and when the front wheel finally had daylight underneath it, I could grab the wheel and pump the whole thing up and down, accompanied by this awesome "squishy squishy" noise of the oil inside the strut.
Once that had been diagnosed, I replaced the strut with one I had spare in the shed and I'm now mobile again.
Must admit, it's bloody nice having the Soarer back on the road! I missed it something fierce, considering a week before the strut popped I'd installed a nice beefy exhaust and fixed a whole stack of cosmetic stuff!
