| It looks like this I took the cover off but I still cant really tell if its an open diff or Torsen.

| I know that. Beneath the hands in the picture, I could only have a small view of the gears as it was covered by something. It seemed to look like your picture, but I cant be sure. Seemed to have 2 gears next to each other. Axle code was A01B off the Supra however, which I believe is a Torsen. The diff could have been swapped though |

| There are also "big cast cooling fins" on the top and bottom of the diff as seen here http://planetsoarer.com/diff/diff.htm |

No it's not...TRD are mechanical clutch-type LSD's. The insides completely differ from a torsen. |

| Its a Torsen diff! Feels like there is so much more grip while cornering! I recommend this to everyone |

| I have bought a 91 V8 that the seller claimed had a Torsen LSD diff but a friend said that it is not LSD because you can spin one wheel without the other back wheel spinning. Is this true? I thought that only under power would the Limited slip kick in. It seems from this attached article that you can't tell from the outside. Thanks for any insights. By the way, he said that it had traction control. How can I know if that is true? I read somewhere that there is a switch for the traction control. If that is right where is it? wanting to learn John |

| the torsen will spin one wheel without the other if it is jacked up in the air, so fools many into thinking it is an open wheeler. the test is to do a burn out(wheelspin) on tarmac, and see if you leave two black lines or one! traction control has a number of indications. firstly, a second throttle position sensor type thing on the throttle body. also near the strut tower(passenger side), is a small square palstic lid which, when you lift the civer, reveals the relays for ABS and traction control. if the relays for TRC are missing, then it is likely you don't have traction control. |

| An open diff can still make 2 black lines on a consistent surface. Better to test it with one wheel off the bitumen and see if both wheels still spin. |
