I have 16's on at the moment all around and an original 15" as a spare because anything bigger won't fit in the boot lol.

I might also use some VW bbs alloys from a VR6 that are 15", Now my 16" have those center rings inside them to mate up properly to the hub.

What I would like to know is how exactly do they work? what's to stop them coming loose and if anybody recommends which brand to use. Cheers

the hubcentric rings, do just that, they make sure the wheel is centered on the hub, as without them the wheel even when bolted wont be centered causing all sorts of chaos.

mine were tapped on and i cannot remove them without braking them off.

as for your new rims, if they are the right PCD they will bolt on, then you just have to worry about the offset, stock is 50, but it doesn't have to be anywhere near that really, just might get rubbing etc.

p.s. the days of 15" wheels are long gone, nice bbs style 17/18s can be had for not much money.

p.p.s TT soarers came out with a 16" spare so one will fit in your car, its not so much the height of the wheel more-so the width, turf the spare for a can of tyre weld.

Thanks for all your help Marc, I will look at getting some hubcentric rings fitted to them.

I can't complain as they would be great as spares and aren't costing me anything.
