Hi all. I have found a '91' uzz32 for sale here in Brisbane. I had the owner take the car to racq for a master check. Now they found more than a few things wrong with it. The owner is desperate to sell it because he simply cannot afford to carry out all the repairs needed. The biggest problem is the hydraulic suspension. It needs a fair bit of work. The car needed seals replaced, diff & transmission fluids topped up, serpentine belts etc done and the radiator also needed attention. Now I am keen on the car however I have absolutely no idea what it is going to cost me to repair, especially the suspension.
So what I need is a Toyota Soarer specialist/guru living in the Brisbane area whom the car can be taken to and assessed, prices quoted to sort it all out etc before I buy it.
Please help out here, point me to someone who knows these cars inside and out.
Firstly, the suspension can be professionally rebuilt by an absolute enthusiast who knows these cars inside out. Secondly, he is located in Melbourne and will take on work from interstate. Great bloke to deal with and he will 'see you right' with your '32.
2 years ago I spent about $4.5k having the shocks/struts/rebuilt and strengthened Better than New by Peter T and about $1750 on Vlamos bushes most of which I did not need -bushes i.e. Then about $2k on labour. You could probably rebuild the struts for about $900 plus labour however if the struts are not 100% perfect you have wasted your money ( Given the high pressures struts operate under they are unlikely to be perfect ) A parts and labour recon will do next time however these original struts were 18 years old. With new suspension in your 32 you won't find a better Grand Touring handling/driving experience anywhere else especially if you supercharge it which is on my list. Good luck
hmmm I want a cheap active...... but the suspension rebuilds, even for a workshop such as myself, are not on the cheap side. Get is as cheap as possible and then you can fix it up and keep it for a few years. A reco active suspension kit should last you for 5-10 years.
