My 93 TT has developed a vibration in the steering which is particularly noticeable at low speeds...under 5kph. Any ideas about how to start diagnosing? ps I tried a search first

Sorry I was a bit vague there. It only occurs when turning, and there is also a whirring/small motor noise when going lock to lock. very noticeable manoeuvering in garage/carpark

Yeah spot on Ian. I took it to a power steering place today for an initial lookover. There was plenty of air coming through the oil. Fluid actually spurting up with the reservoir lid off. The power steering hoses are all very hard and apparently this can cause an air leak where it joins the metal fittings. Going to change over all the hoses next week. Had noticed a drop per night leak in the garage lately so this may be related. Also may be a problem with the mesh in the reservoir being varnished causing high pressure movement of the oil. Got rid of some of the air today and topped it up and seems ok for now.
