I recently bought a strut bar for my car. The bloke i bought it from said it didnt fit his V8.
I tried getting the tems caps off, but the bolts were to tight. We tried with a 14mm socket that we purchased from supercheap, and the adapter broke!
But anyway, I can see a wire connected to the cap, does anyone know if i would be able to put the strut bar on? And also do they make any difference with the handling on the car? Alot of people say it dosnt. I like how they look anyway.
Mines black at the moment, so I was going to sand it back and spray over it.
I bought a chrome spray that is heat resistant for up to 500degrees, they also had a metallic red spray which was simillar to my car. Not sure which colour i will be spraying it though.

It wont fit with the tems, although I have seen some modified/custom ones done to fit with the tems. I have one on my v8 with coilovers and I certainly noticed the difference, turn in was improved heaps, didn't understeer any where near as much when pushing it hard

That wire controls the TEMS suspension and will need to be connected back on.

Hi Natasha,
Its an interesting read to search 'strut brace' on SC. Most of the long term and respected Soarer experts on here say that strut braces only work on McPherson strut suspension (which Soarers don't have). There's always a lively discussion when the subject comes up. Suspect its a variant of the long running form v. function debate - what looks good as opposed to what works good e.g. dished wheels v. proper Soarer offset, stretched tyres v. correct fitting, 19/20" wheels with rough ride anywhere off the expressway v. 17/18" wheels and a degree of ride comfort. I suppose at the end of the day a strut brace does no harm. Good luck with your fitting.

Have a read but if well designed then they are effective at chassi stiffening and the soarer chassi like most 90's Toyotas have a lot of flex.
