Has anyone got a front strut bump stop they can measure and maybe take a photo of for me? I can't see mine as it's well up under the plastic shielding.
With the 15" rims and 195/45 tyres I'm still almost 80mm above my projected height and I cannot find a smaller diameter 15" tyre
The current coils have about three turns at the top touching each other then another couple of "normal" winds down to the lower mount on the shock. I believe it is currently sitting on the bump stops based on the small amount of driving I have done to date. I'm tying with the idea of removing a portion of the stop depending upon it's length and the closed length of the shock.
For anyone interested, the high point of the front wheel arch is currently 590mm from the ground.

factory air as far as i can the has no bump and full deflated the factory 16" TT wheels with correct tyres will rest hard on the top of the wheel arch not allowing the wheels to turn
this was how it was with my std setup and height controller, you could barley drive in a straight line but the scraping was terribly annoying
i could get it to do this on factory air but it was a pita an took about 5 min and sometimes wouldnt do it, then it's take ages to go back to normal
all i had was stock air suspension and height controller, i did adjust the rods too
with could chop the bumpstop and even hack off a couple of coils, or if that scares you get them compressed.... still scared then try some 2nd han coil overs failing that you can have the strut bodys choped and shortened... anything is possible
i have aftermarket air now and i can make the front lip rest on the ground
I no longer have air, the suspension now is a std coil spring setup with extremely low springs.
Hacking off coils isn't going to help me if I'm already on the stops, it'll just make the spring loose on the shock. I am assuming that's also the reason the first two coils have been kept despite being coil bound.
The pic below shows a generic, stock (road use) bump stop on the left and a competition bump on the right to allow for lower ride height. this is what I'm looking for a pic of, for the std Soarer coils, to gauge whether or not I can lose some height here.
Coil overs are my final option but as usual I am trying to keep costs down where possible.

I don't have a picture, but I just measured the distance between the bottom of the thread the top of the raised area that the bump stop sits into) and what appears to be the end of the rubber marks on the shaft where the bump stops must have been rubbing a bit on my old shocks. Both sides came up with 60mm, so that must be pretty close to correct.
Don't know how much use that is to you. I do recall they were quite large, much like the left hand in your picture.
A 100% accurate measurement isn't necessary, as long as I know I am able to shorten the stops and gain or rather, lose some more height without going to great lengths or expense.
It's not high on the to do list but I am trying to get as many ducks in a row sorted in advance so that when I come to them, I am already on top of the situation.
