i am currently looking to buy a new set of rims for my TT soarer, ( as my old set had an illegal track offset " distance from the center of the two rims")

does anyone know what the specs are that comply with the act regulations?

Factory offset for a Soarer is +50. No idea how much you are allowed to deviate from this. Easiest thing to do would be ring local (ACT) tyre/rim shops until you get the same answer from at least two of them or you could try to find the relevant legislation/guidelines online.

they wont have a clue.

I dont know about ACT, but NSW says 25mm increase in track http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi09_rev4.pdf and vic says 25mm also http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/NR/rdonlyres/CC48FC10-4D57-4F04-82E1-3BD72EF88340/0/VSI8.pdf

Im guessing ACT is similar.
