I have been doing some searching and i can't find an answer.

How many suspension set ups did Toyota do for a JZA80 Supra?

I know Bilstein is one.
Was KYB another?

There was another not listed cant recall the exact name. Possible REARS which used nitrogen accumulators and tied both front wheel together I think and both rears.

It is supposed to provide a smoother ride whilst maintaning greater stability through corners.

I think that's called REAS and I believe it was based on Bilstein shocks anyway.

Matt.

Thanks guys.
The reason I was asking is that a bloke near were I am is wrecking a Supra, and I am in need of a set of rear struts for my TT.
He doesn't think that his struts are Bilstein, but I am wondering if the springs, top-hats and bump stops are the same as the ones on the Bilsteins.

Matt, pity we can't get those ones out of Mainfreight.

KYB and others make replacement shocks for the JZA80's and they would reuse the factory top hats and springs.

Try giving them a call Evan you might get someone who's having a good day. I think they were from Tauranga.

I also threw a set of JZZ30 rear struts out a month or so ago!

Sorry man.

Yeah, JZA80 factory top hats and springs is what I am after, but will they fit the Bilstein shocks?

Yes they will.

I have a set of new JZA80 Bilsteins and stock springs in the garage which I am going to fit to the Soarer with Eibach springs I think.

You want the other springs Evan?

I have Tein coilovers in there at the moment which are going to come out and I will replace the stock JZA80 springs with some Eibachs and fit those.

Nice work Evan.

The set at Mainfreight are shocks and springs from a JZA80.

You can get the stock JZA80 springs from my other set if you want but I am going to use the bilsteins and top hats.

TRD suspension was also an option on the A80, although this is extremely uncommon

OK. It looks to me that the difference between the Supra rear and the Soarer suspension is only the springs.
Measured hats,same. Bump stops, same.

Will check front Suspension tomorrow.

You get a set Evan?

The rear shock spring seat is lower as well isn't it?

Matt I got a set of Supra KYB for not a lot, and a Uzz30 set as well.
The UZZ30 set has Bilstein fronts.

The Supra rear shock spring seat looks to be slightly lower, but the spring is about half a turn shorter.(and the bottom of the spring is smaller diameter)

The UZZ front springs looks to be slightly larger in size. (fatter?).

I should add that, the rear hats, stops and springs went on to new Bilstein shocks.

So is the overall JZA80 setup shorter in the rear?

What springs you going to run? I am going to try a set if Eibachs I think.

The rear is lower, prolly an 20-25mm max on the rear, with a 17 inch rim (TT).

Springs are stock Supra.

Are the Eibachs Low or Superlow?

All done.
Supra Bilsteins front and rear.
No clunks or funny noises, drive is so much smoother.
All old shocks were absolutely rooted.
