Got a very metalic jingle bells type rattle in my left rear TEMS strut. Noise seems to be coming from the lower part of the strut. can get it to tinkle banging my hand on it when the wheel is off. Other than this the strut and rest of suspension seems to work ok but feel like I'm waiting for a failure with this noise going on. Any one had this before? Any info most appreciated.

Hey James, Your swapping over to coils? It's weird sound. Sounds like a bit of hardened steel rattling around in there. Am doing a six hour one way next week so I hope I dont have to think about it. I'll just crank the amazing stereo and relax.

My first soarer has all the good bits from brakes to coils to sway bars and the like but the body is really rough so I have brought another soarer (the 95 UZZ31) and plan on swapping things over.

Hey Matt and Beau, thanks for the suggestions. I'll check these out, but I've had the wheel off and my head next to the strut, and it definately seems to be IN the strut. All this can be tricky I know so I'll have another look, But thanks again.

Yep, my thread So I guess it's nothing major, that was a year ago and I just did my 1000 k fishing trip again. good thing the stereo cranks so well in these things. The suspension is still working fine though I'd like to find a decent right rear unit just for reserve. BTW does anyone know if you have to replace the rubber grommets when you unscrew the air tube?

ok So I finally got to swapping out the right rear strut with one I got off here. On removing the noisy one it's quite obvious that something hardened has come away inside down the bottom of the strut. Actually sounds like a bit of spring bouncing around in there. On driving the car to my amazement the noise is there slightly on the left hand side as well so I think that the other side might be the same but not as loud. Not really happy as yet as the one I got came up to height ok and rides ok I think, but I saw no movement when flicking the switch of the soft/hard adjust rods when I had the car running and the cover off. Also there was a bit of oil pissing out of one of the adjust rods housing when I messed with it a bit. Guess I should have gone the UK new road. Hard to find S/H struts without lots of kms on them.
So to you others with the jingle bells noise, you may have a little broken bit in the bottom of your strut like I do.
