If I went ahead and got some PBM coilovers with 18/12 kg per mm spring rates, am I opening myself up to damaging the chassis, or is this more keyboard ninja that doesn't exist outside of theory? And anyone know what the ride is going to be like with that level of stiff?
And another question, can anyone suggest an inbetween brand that is a compromise between quality and price (for suspension arms)? As in somewhere in the middle of expensive Ikeya parts and cheap-ass eBay parts? I would prefer to err on the side of caution, seeing as though it wouldn't end well if an arm broke mid flog.
That's going to be nice and stiff. From memory the GTR Z tune runs factory 14 front and 14 rear for a 1400kg car... My mates Honda (<1000kg) is running 16/12 and it feels like your spine is shattering when you're in it, but it is set up for track. I've found 6/4 in a 1200kg Sportivo to be reasonably stiff! I think in a Soarer around the 1500kg mark the spring rates you noted will be fine for track use, but if you're driving it regularly you might find it way too stiff...

I just bought springs from Hyperco (hypercoils, the ones recommended in the gixxer drew set up). So cheap, $50 per spring, lifetime warranty, nascar, indy car and others use them. Spring rates are not in kg per mm but rather lb/inch. 500 for the front and 250 for rear.
I THINK this is approx 9kg front and 4.5kg rear. From the reviews for the street this is perfect. Matching with Bilstein shocks, HD's, cheaper than toyota bilsteins.
