I recently went from conservative 16" BBA alloys to second hand 17"'s with road legal slicks just to sus the car on a lower profile tyre. What has been noticeable up front is that the steering is now really road camber sensitive. Sometimes on an old tyre contoured road surface it literally tries to pull it's self off the road! Can anyone tell me if this is typical of going to a wider rim with a lower profile tyre? I recently got an alignment done at a good place and no report of excess front end wear. Could it be time for control arm bushes?

If all you have changed is the rims, and it is tramlining, then the rims/tires are the issue. If you go to a lower offset, and wider rims, a Soarer will follow the groves in the road.
I have a few sets of rims, some I run with spacers to clear the brakes some without. The only rims that didnt follow the road at all are the factory 16" and a set of factory Supra Rims. Everything else does to some degree.

Gee Thanks guys I'll check the rack bushes but i think, fugit I'll go back to the 16's. At the moment it feels a bit like a gokart with a hot stereo. Cheers J.
