The 4 wheel steering, on the UZZ32, switches from the rear wheels opposing the front wheels to reduce the turning circle for parking, to the rear wheels following the front wheels for changing lanes smoothly at speed. There is an electric motor on the rear steering rack that switches the rack between these two modes. Amazing, isn't it. However, the motor on my rack has seized. I have tried to search for information about this problem but with little success, the key problem being repairing / replacing this 4WS motor. Sourcing useable spares for a UZZ32 is an issue. I am looking into getting the 4WS motor rebuilt if I can't find a replacement part. Does anyone either have a spare or has anyone had one rebuilt / dismantled one? Any help or advice will be gratefully received. Regards, Paul

The rear rack is actually hydraulically driven by the same power steering fluid in the front rack.
At less than full lock it's controlled by valves and the 4WS ecu tells it what to do.
When you hit full lock there is a cable follower that connects the front and rear rack together and this controls a valve that allows the rear wheels to turn in to reduce the turning circle.
I'd check the linkage that connects the front rack to the follower, as these can wear and break as there is some misalignment from factory. I'd also check that the cables aren't broken.

also on my uzz32 i found i unplugged the electric plug and sprayed it with electrical spray because sometimes the contact tips get dirty and while under there a can of degreaser cleans the rack up nicely,
