Despite the debate on strut braces, could anyone give me some personal experience on which brands/makes supply a brace that will actually clear the 1UZ engine? Thanks in advance.

Hi Michael, look up Whiteline. I spoke to them at summernats last week and they make one for the V8, and also swaybars, front and rear... Mention ya spoke to them at Summernats and you was told you could still get the nats discount

yes they do. also if you do get a cheaper one (strut ends arent as strong) you can press the crossbrace to bend it in two sections to get it to clear.

SUrely you are joking Aaron If you can bend the bar so it clears, then I doubt it will provide very much reinforcement of the front end. Unless you are going all ricer on me...LOL. You used to be a good bloke, building a race car and all that. I dont know what happened. Racer, ricer, geez man you've changed. (in case people dont get my humour, I am joking. Not about bars that bend, mind you ...)

I have a Whiteline strut brace on mine. I can tell you that it just rubs on the Toyota badge on the intake manifold, I ended up removing the badge and now there is about 2-3mm clearance.

FWIW I've fitted a Cusco brace for a MKIV Supra in my LS400. Not much clearance, slightly touches some of the small hoses on top of the engine, but it fits!

Would depend on the blower setup to. I wont have room for even a V type, I/C pipes will be in the way...

LOL strut brace on a double wishbone front end LOL!!! anyway.... if there is a bend anywhere in the bar it will do even less as it will just flex at the bend.

Well since I only spent $500NZD on whiteline front sway bar and a rear sway bar then got the strut brace for free then meh, I'll throw it in there especially since there is'nt much keeping the engine in it's place with broken mounts as almost all Soarer's have.... |
