hi everyone,
i'm just wondering if there's a certain trick to getting the rear tems style struts out.
i read somewhere you just need to lever the upper control arm and remove the strut
but F*** me i'm bending everything i own trying to get the bastard down low enough, breaker bars with longer cheater pipe on the end, handles other bits and pieces and i can't seem to get it down low enough.
any idea's? its obviously been done 1000 times before.
I dropped the diff end of the lower control arm, first marking the adjustment washer. If you can easily compress the shockers they are stuffed. Shockers are meant to be gas filled, would require more than your body weight to compress them at all!
Gavin, I replaced all my old airbags, with new units, at christmas, the old rears compressed under their own weight. The new air shocks were as hard as a rock, could not compress them at all with my body weight. The actual shockers are pressurised, the airbags only replace the springs, and only work once the air lines are connected and pressurised.

Sheiza Jan! The secondhand airbag units I got compressed with a bit of persuasion with no air in them but were no where near hard as a rock. Maybe they're stuffed!
Jack, I have a left front I took out of my car, which is in perfect condition, and right front that is on way out. You are welcome to come past and compare them if you like. I am in Altona, Melbourne.
