I finally got to take the car out today and while the diff feels smooth, when it is unloaded it whines fairly loudly. Under load accelleration or deceleration it is quiet?? The diff has been rebuilt and had a torsen center fitted with new bearings.
The diff performs well and I noticed the difference when the wife said to me on the way back from lunch, "you gonna catch that light" referring to a green right turn arrow. Not one to miss a chance, quick squirt up to the lights grab second come out with the wheels at the point of breaking traction and it was all smooth rocket sled on rails kinda stuff.

I did not find out the price, $90 is not what I would call prohibitively expensive, when the whole operation cost be nearly $1300 including the price of the centre. Is this whine an indication of impending doom?

there shouldnt be any audible whine mate.
mine also whines but i knew that it does it mostly under power but stupid craft differentials washed the diff and left it to dry causing the thing to nearly weld itself.but alas it was too late and now i think either the bearings are gone or something to do with the crown and pinion bearings..
